Getting your 4R as clean as possible?

Just got done with a 2 hour wash on my baby and i had some questions:

1) I've noticed the permanent sun spots on the windows. Is there any way to get these off to restore the pure black look. I mean when the suns really out its definitely noticable.

2) cleaning inside the wheel wells? i've seen pics of really clean ones but mine are caked with layer upon layer of mud. it'd be really nice to get the brown outta there

and 3) the window linings are beginning to get sun spots as well. they're looking weathered and those spots just chap my ass when i'm sweating like a pig to get my baby as perfect as i can. anything i can do to get these looking like new? if it comes to replacing them, any price estimates?

i'm not sure what youmean by sun spots on the windows but for the fading on the rubber and plastic trim, use mothers' back to black. as for the dirty wheel wells, 3 things, a pressure washer, a scrub brush, and some elbow grease. it 's much easier to get off when the mud is fresh.
if you wanna keep em clean just stay out of the mud. but then where's the fun in that?
 
thanks for the back to black suggestion, will be trying it in the morning. i'm surprised you don't know what i'm referring to on the windows, maybe it's just incorrect terminology. i've seen it on quite a few runners. anywho, it looks like dried water spots when you wash your car and leave it in the sun, but these spots are much smaller and will not go away despite my best efforts. i read somewhere a few months ago to use vinegar, and tried that to no avail. anyone know what i'm talking about?
 
i've never seen or had that and i hope not to. maybe you're getting stubborn hard water stains. if it is hard water stains, you can dampen a sponge with lime away of any lime remover and wipe the spots. just don't let it run onto the paint.

if that dosnt work, go to autozone and get some steel wool for the windows. i think its 000 or something. anyhow itll say for windows. i used simple green and that and alot of elbow grease and it good to go now!

i waxed the windows and havent had a problem since!
 
Another option for the water spots is Bon Ami, which you may find in the kitchen cleaning products aisle at the supermarket. It's a powder similar to Comet, but it has a softer abrasive that is safe for glass and ceramic products. It will leave the glass pristine.

If you look for it but don't find it, do _not_ use Comet or the like, or you could be looking at scratched glass...
 
To clean the wheel wells, you need super hot water and enough force to clean up the gunk. Not my cup of tea for labor so went to a local spot and see how she came out:

Those water spots are a pain. My 4Runner gets hit with the sprinkler system on the passenger side during the summer and it just dries right there. I'm gonna check into some of those tips.

For the wheel wells, I just power wash. If it starts fading, I'll buy some .99 cent flat black paint and spray away...it really did wonders with the frame after I added a body lift.

1. those are hard water spots.... Get Bio-clean.... its an abbrasive paste you will have to buff on... it basically scratches them off and not the window... then seal it with rainx or a good wax...

2. pressure washer, degreaser, and a scrub brush... afterwards use some armor-all one the black rubber parts they will shine like new... you can do the same under the hood also .. just watch out for electrical stuff with the water!

3. he said it back2black... at autozone....

this thread motivated me to remove my water spots on my windows.... it was a pain in the @$$ but well worth it... it is a day and night difference... I even did the mirrors.

awesome, i remember someone on here telling me it was sap or the acid in the rain or some crap, and also that i could get it off using a claybar, SIKE!! that didnt work at all.

how long did it take you?

It is acid rain or hard water stains actually! I used this stuff called Bio-Clean, I got it from my local tint shop.... It is a paste kinda like a liquid wax with some abbraisive crap in it, gritty, almost like gojo or something.... but it works great... major pain in the butt.. you have to buff it on in small circles applying lots of pressure until its all gone.... it took me 2 days about 2 hours each day, I ran out of daylight! you have to keep cleaning it and checking it to see if they came all the way off or else it wont look right... but the results are EXCELLENT!!!!!

clay is for your paint, works great on sap an over spray, two diff. kinds red cuts deep, blue is most common and is not as harsh as red is on paint... remember after claying your paint you MUST MUST wax, as you are removing everything from the paint....
