Just to answer some questions though, I have had aftermarket exhaust systems on other cars.

I had a Fujitsubo exhaust on a Nissan 240SX and a BLITZ on a Toyota MR2.

Can't believe they messed up the install that bad! Glad you got it fixed and I'd definitely be going back next time work is needed.

I cut my Gibson exhaust off, I got sooo damn sick of the drone on the highway, I liked its rumble at idle, even the sound at full rev, however, that damn drone was so annoying I just couldn't take it anymore. I put the factory exhuast back on and am so much happier, I wish I would have gotten a different exhaust. Now I just have an exhaust collecting dust...

Glad you got it sorted out.

One thing I noticed on mine is that if you install the muffler in the correct direction and orientation (based on the louvers inside and inlet/outlet pipe locations), then the Gibson logo stamped into the side of the muffler is upside-down.

I could see this confusing a tech at a shop rushing to get a job done quickly, certainly made me double check things. Maybe that's what happened in your case.

When the next time you are going to have another exhaust install? lol

I have been driving for 20 years.. Only had to go to a muffler shop once.

Personally exhaust noise on trucks are annoying to me.. Unless I needed it for a turbo or something. But it would not be on a suv. ..

I do hate the OEM exhaust.. It looks so out of place.

Maybe your muffler was installed backwards also.

For me, if the noise gets to bad i just turn my hearing aids down, problem solved. :cheers:

Nope, just quadruple checked it and it was installed correctly. The Gibson drones its that simple, I enjoyed it for 2-3 years but couldn't deal with it any more when my commutes extended, between 60-70mph this system drones.

But its all about tolerance, mine wore out for the little to no performance gain I received from the exhaust and yes before you ask I have had performance exhaust systems before, hell on my supra I have a down pipe and no cats...

But its all about tolerance, mine wore out for the little to no performance gain I received from the exhaust and yes before you ask I have had performance exhaust systems before, hell on my supra I have a down pipe and no cats...

I agree that its drones around 60-70. But if I cruise right at/slightly above 70 it seems fine.

It's gotta be a V6 thing then, my 4Runner doesn't really "drone" or sound annoying with the Gibson SS exhaust.

Then again, I have a loud as F Mustang Cobra with LT headers, Mac Prochamber and SLP Loudmouth mufflers so anything is tame compared to that.

My V8 most definitely drones at 60-70ish. Not as bad as my old MR2 did but it is still noticeable.

It still sounds the same just a bit more quiet. I'm more happy about not hearing a loud PING sound every time I go over a bump.

Also, pull the muffler off and replace with straight pipe like I did will result in 0 drone.
