Giving Thanks and a Question

I joined in June with a mostly stock black 2003 4runner sr5 sport v8 4.7 liter which i received for my 16th b'day.
I just want to thank everybody on the forum for their assistance, advice, and for them inspiring my mods. So far I have fixed the busted tail reflector, replaced various bulbs, fixed interior problems, added avs ventvisors, added a black bull bar with auxiliary lights, just recently made my gauge cluster needles blue to contrast the orange (WAR EAGLE!), and am still looking at other mods.

And now to my question. i purchased a bull bar that came in a package with aux lights. My research, prompted by the aggravating lack of instructions, revealed that i need to wire one of the loose wires that completes the circut to the ignition. Dont know how to do that, but also dont want to blow anything up or drop any more cash. can somebody help please?

Happy belated birthday bro! I also wanted to say War Eagle! I am buying a bull bar with lights next week and would like to see what it looks like on a 4 runner. Could you post up some pics? Sorry I'm an electrical **** so I can't help you with the install on the lights.

I wouldn't wire it to the ignition..how many wire does it have? The normal 2? If so, I would just tap into your existing fog light, parking light, or headlight wiring depending on how you you them to be activated. Of course you could always run a new set of wires for them and use a separate switch in one of the blanks be the steering wheel or center console.

Any way you could tell us how he did it? WAR DAM EAGLE! When I do it it will have to be on its own switch. I think it against the law to use them on-road.

If they are fog lights (with a difused lens) I think it is ok to use on road but if they are driving lights (with a pencil beam) you will get pulled over pretty quick.

We are almost like twins....

@zonianbrat it had 4 wires that were power cables. one was positive, one negative, one ground, and one ignition. the ignition was supposed to be wired to the ignition fuse which would involve taking out the entire fuse box, buying a connector, and connecting it to the ignition relay. the purpose of this is to turn off the lights when you turn off the key so that they dont kill your battery. (mine already came with a separate switch) my friend hooked the +, -, and ground up normally and just connected the ignition wire to the positive power wire at the battery post to complete the circuit. as long as i dont leave the lights on, the one LED showing that the lights are off on the switch shouldnt effect my battery and if im really worried about it, i can just unplug a connector to kill the power.

and btw, I work at the district attorney's office and i look up laws like that in my free time, and as far as light laws go, it depends, in alabama, you can have up to two fog lights on your car and as long as theyre not "dazzling" or "the high intensity portion of the beam isnt pointing to the left of the drivers side or pointing more than 100' ahead" theyre legal
