Glad I got the extended warranty

Less than a year ago my 4runner was making a loud chirpping sound(by the fan and belts) upon cold starts. It would go away after it warmed up. I took it to the dealer to have the v belt replaced. Well, now that it is getting cold again the chirpping sound started again. But my warranty expired 2 weeks ago, so I purchased the platinum extended warranty. Even though I only have 19K miles on it. Well, now I need a new drive belt and tensioner. He tried to get the $500 out of me, not knowing I had the extended warranty.

I am so glad I purchased the warranty.

Definitely worth the price if ya ask me. I got mine for just under $800 and already saved that with during my most recent visit to the dealer. Too many things that COULD go wrong and be costly to not think about getting it. Plus it is a great resale point.

If your dealer had done right by you the first time, maybe you wouldn't have had to take it back the second time. There is a TSB on the V6 serpentine belt noise since the '03. They should have replaced the belt, and tensioner under the original warranty the first time.
