Hey any ideas on glass cleaners? All i get are streaks. How about a certain towel?

Several step cleaning

Stoners Glass cleaner, and then plain water, followed by a microfiber towel for drying. This method usually lasts about 4 months before I have to clean again (inside).

The frequent rainfall keeps the outsdie clean.

i tried using the Armor All wipes for inside, but they streaked all over. i've had better success w/ Windex which is a no-no. are the products mentioned good for interior or exterior?

I 2nd the Stoner's Invisible Glass,the stuff goes on easy and keeps the interior glass clean and even resistes dust for quite a while.

I find that Windex works fine but that you can't use standard, household paper towels. It is glue in the paper towels that cause streaking. I use a disposable, synthetic fiber towel from Griot's garage, many other types of towels will also work well but not household paper towels.

I use newspaper to wipe my windows after a carwash. Cheap and effective.

Cleaning Glass


Believe it or not, I have found that the best thing to use is either Windex or ArmorAll glass cleaner -- and newspaper -- yes, newspaper. It is virtually free (as you would throw it away anyhow), does a good job cleaning the glass and prevents streaking.

Left-leaning rags such as the Washington Post work especially well. It also works well for lining the bird cage.

My auto shop teacher taught me this 20 years ago except you can just use water which works just as well as cleaner when used with newspaper.

That said, I think cleaning with newspaper is a pain in the ass. One micro fiber cloth costs at most $1 and will last forever by just throwing it in the washer once in a while. Plus I leave the cloth in the car and it still cleans when it is dry so I have it to do a quick wipe or to wipe off some fog on the inside if I need to.

i have a really good micro-fiber cloth made by 3M, which was like $4. i got it for my laptop screen, but now i may use it for my windows (which i never thought of prior).

do you initially wet the rag with water or do you use a cleaner?

If used with a cleaner then the cloth can be dry. If used without cleaner then you can wet one for cleaning and use a dry one to wipe and dry after. Or in a pinch it will clean decently just being used dry.

Hmm,I've always used Kirkland Premium (Costco) paper towels and with the Invisible Glass I've never had a problem with streaks and I've been using them since '99.

That also includes any ammonia based product.

Personally, for exterior, Sprayway Glass Cleaner and Microfiber towel is what I use. Best results I've found yet.

For interior, water or a mild soapy water solution with a microfiber towel.

In regards to newspaper, I've found that printed newspaper leaves streaks because of the water based ink.

I've found the a microfiber towel really helps in not leaving streaks. Whenever I clean glass, it seems to be streak free with what I use that I stated above..

I use eagle one 20/20 cleaner and used to use a microfiber towel. However, I have been using the new paper towels out made for glass and surface that dont leave streaks. I forget what brand they are, but I buy them for general paper towel use and can use them on glass as an added bonus. You should give them a try.
