Afternoon All,
Thought I would talk to you all about sealing your glass for better
clarity and water removal during rain storms. I had Dow Corning stop
by my shop to discuss the possibilities of using this application back in the
day ( 1996 ) and this stuff really makes a difference. When you look at glass
microscopically the surface looks like the Grand Canyon. When you apply this
stuff properly it acts as a sealer and creates a fluid surface without the peaks and valleys.
I ran into a customer who works for Baush & Lomb and instead of me applying my product he asked if he could do his own???? I said give some to me and we will try using some of yours and mine to see which is better, but both have the proprietary formula patented by Dow Corning. I took his and tested it against the product I use and sure enough the scratch resistance is the same!!!
I looked at the truck sitting in the driveway and was pleased with how fast the water beads up and runs off the glass. I put both products on the 4Runner and will keep you posted as to any concerns over time. For now I would suggest if your all interested you can buy the B&L stuff thru Grainger Supply.

When you apply this to the windshield / glass do during the cool time of the day and not in direct sunlight. Shake bottle well to distribute the product in solution and apply a window at a time, windshield 1/2 at a time and use a terry towel to move the product right to left and then repeat up and down, do this several times ( 3-4 times ) alternating direction until product is dry. This is well worth the time and what little money it costs compared to my industrial grade product I also use at my shop.
Note!
I do not know how long it will last on the windshield due to blade wear on the surface but at the price of this stuff you can afford to apply 2-3 times a year, side windows won't need reapplication for years I bet.
