Glock 26 v Glock 27

Just wanted to get some input from you guys on this.

I've got a Glock 22 as my duty weapon, and am thinking about investing in an off duty concealable weapon. I like the G27 for the sole purpose that it can take my G22's mags. But I think that in such a small sized gun, I'm probably going to want the 9mm. If the time comes that I need to use my off duty weapon, I feel like the 9mm is going to be more accurate when unloading the ammo at a high rate of fire :uzi: .

Get the 27, ETA on the way

ETA: Same ammo, same mags, same parts, more or less same recoil. Itll be less like a back up than a 22/26 combo. FWIW I have a 19/26 combo, and the sub compact is so awesome I carry it almost full time now. I work on guns for Uncle and with enough training you can be just as accurate with a 27 and with a 22.

I would def try both out to be sure. Just my system, but I like to have everything more or less standardized so Ive chosen 9mm Glocks. I dont really consider 10 rds to be a back up gun really, and as you said you can use the larger mags with it also. I love rocking my 26 in a Smart Carry in sweatpants :dancin:

if you do go with the 27, make sure you get the grip extender

Have you considered other brands? Personally, i prefer SA/DA setup on a conceal carry...for safety reasons. I have a Sig Sauer P239 (9mm). It is always in condition one (round chambered) with hammer down. I had a G26, but gave it to my brother because i never did feel 100% comfortable with it in condition one (safety reason). I do like Glocks quite a bit, but for CC, i like the SA/DA route.

I am a U.S. Marshal and my issue weapon is the Glock 22, and that is what I have carried for almost 20 years now. Last year I finally broke down and bought the Glock 27 as a secondary and a back-up. The 27 because it is the same ammo - if you get in a firefight and run out with your primary, or it mal-functions (not that a Glock would), then you have a secondary or back-up that can use the ammo you had for your primary. I like the compact size and the recoil of the .40 in the smaller frame is not that bad. I now wear the 27 on my hip as my primary and carry the 22 in my ditty bag. It also fits nicely on the inside of my left ankle. I can't even tell that I have it on. I am ok with it only having 10 rounds, since most shootings average only 3.5 shots, ....., and I only need 1 - LOL. I would recommend the 27 over the 26 for the stated reasons as well as the stopping power of the .40 over the 9mm. Don't know where you plan to purchase, but the LEO discounts at GT-Distribrutors is pretty good. That is where I bought my 27 as well as two AR's. Try to borrow a 27 from someone or at the range and giver her a try.

Are you going to ever carry the 26/27 as a back up gun while on duty? If so I would get the one that can use your duty mags and other accessories.

If your not going to ever carry it as a back up gun then there are a lot more options. Do you really need to go down to a sub compact? A 19/23 is a lot more gun in not that big of a package.

I'm not a glock fan, but if you shoot your current glock well, I guess you should stay with that same grip angle. 4th gen glocks are coming out, just something to keep in mind.

I really do like the G23, it was the first gun I ever shot. I actually was trying to get that before I got my G22, but I was crunched for time and needed to get something ASAP and the gun store out here only had a G22. Since then I've fallen in love w/ my G22.

I was thinking about going back and getting the 23, but I'm not exactly a big guy (5'9", 160lbs), so I feel like the G26/27 would be a better off duty carry weapon for my needs.

I'm not 100% sure on carrying as a back up gun on duty. If anything I'd probably throw it in my duty bag and put in on the seat in the cruiser next to me.

I'd go with the 27 and just train more to make up for recoil. If it still is an issue you can convert a 40 cal glock to 9mm, but you can't go the other way. That runs 100-150.

Well, I called the "Authorized Glock Dealer" gun store out by me... 2-8 Weeks for my Glock 27. The gun's going to be $418 out the door with 3 magazines. I called another place and they told me that they can't compete with that price, but I could have the Glock 27 in 2 days for $480.

Blah, I think I'm gonna wait the 2-8 weeks :ybrick:

So about 6 weeks later, I finally get the call that my Glock 27 is in. So 6 weeks and $418 later here's my 27 with my 22

Hey guys, for any of you who are still following this thread, I just got my C-TAC IWB holster the other day :boink:

This is my Uncle Mike's IWB... I don't like it much, no cant, and it likes to slide around all over the place

The next are pictures of the C-TAC with my Glock 27

The shorter clip I actually used a dremmel tool and sanded it down. When I would put the holster on, the excess plastic would poke my pants and make it look like I had something weird going on with my butt haha.
