Glove Box Closed with Power cord

Has anyone run across the problem of shutting their glove box door with a wire to a device coming out. For example I plug my GPS unit into the glove box. I find it difficult to close the door and when I do I feel I am damaging the power cord or the edge of the glove box door. It just barely latches and I have to slam it shut. Has anyone found a notch to put a wire or other solution?

I think the easiest way to do it is, run the chord towards the corner where the button is to open it. I used to run my car charger that way and it didn't damage it at all.

Another option would be to install an extra 12v plug. I did this recently and it costs about $20 and 15minutes of time - super easy. Plenty of threads on here about install options:

There is little notch on the underside of the console lid for a wire. You can find it by running your finger along the bottom. I fish my iPad wire through there when I use it for navigation while charging it.
