Glovebox lamp

My glovebox lamp has been out for the last year & a half, so I finally decided (or should I say remembered) to get a replacement bulb while at an O'Reilly's auto parts store the other day. 4th gen replacement SHOULD be a #37 bulb.
I bought a package of two, and these bulbs are WAY too small. They literally fall right out.

Has anybody else had this problem??? What size did you wind up using?

i thought they were 74 not 37, either way its not enough light even with an led, so i mounted to more. they look alot brighter than this picture shows.

Well, according to the Sylvania site, it says 37 is the right bulb. Obviously it's not. Maybe I'll try a #74.

I'm all for adding lighting... Already added lamps in the footwells, but I'm still recovering from my broken scapula & torn rotator cuff so I'll probably just throw a bulb in it and call it a day. So you think it's actually a #74?
Where did you put your LEDs (hard to tell by the pic)?

Yeah, I wish I found that there was a light under the hood that was just burnt out, but don't think so

Thanks again chaz for the additional pic. How is it held on? Double sided tape? Or did it have adhesive on it already?

Man, I guess I got the one oddball size freakin lamp holder or something... Got some #74 bulbs, and the results were the same as the #37s. TOO SMALL! What the hell?!?!?!?! Put the original bad bulb back in, and fits snug & tight. Put in the #37 or #74, & loosey goosey. This is freakin ridiculous.
May be going with LEDs sooner than expected....:wtf:

thats weird, how does ur old bulb compare to the 37/74 in size? whats the # on the old bulb? is it a 2721? i was gonna use a strip lite like this V-LEDS 5K Pure White Strip Light 6 LED 6 inch since i had one leftover from doing the footwell, but went with these tiny led modules instead. wired into the stock socket & they're peel & stick. LEDs - underbody kits, cathodes, flexible LED strips, dome lights put two out back also.

Both the #37 and #74 bulbs are T-1 3/4 base, so if one doesn't fit the other won't either.

I think my next mod might be some sort of magnetic switch on the gb door so the lamp doesn't stay on at all times the headlamp switch is on. Doesn't take a genius to figure out why so many people have burnt out bulbs in their gloveboxes. I also forgot how useless that little bulb is LOL! Oh well.

Maybe factory really designed it that way to stay on while driving. The lifespan of the bulb is more or less 3 yrs (mine is already 3 yrs) , not bad for its cost. IMO by having a switch, they are adding another component to maintain..many times the switch will malfunction first before the bulb. And besides, the bulb consumes negligible current.

I think the the replacement lamp is sold in pair (??)

I keep mine OEM. There's nothing in my glove box other than registration, insurance and toyota manuals.

Hey A/V1 did you ever end up doing a glove box mod to have the light only come on when opened?? If so how did you do it? I want to do the same to my T4R, but have no idea how to start a new post/thread.
