Glovebox light?

Off subject, but which LED lights did you opt for on the map lights? I'm considering swapping out my stock map lights for LED replacements, just not sure which ones to go with. I tried some a few years ago and was not pleased with the results, so I went back to stock.

Oh and is the light for the glove box still a #74 for '01-'02 4Runners or is it a #73? I need to replace mine too.

Im running some BA9's that i got from VLEDS and im happy with them! no cutting or modifying needed.

I got some smaller 2 Led's for the domes and they're brighter than stock but nothing compared to the Ozinum ones. those things are sweet!

and yes the glove box is a #74. it's a pain to get that bulb swapped out and For my #74 i had to spread the wires a little on the bulb to get it to stay.

I just tried to replace my glovebox bulb with an LED and it still doesn't work. Is there a fuse for the glovebox light?

I'm not sure if there is a fuse. If its an LED try switching it around the other way.

also this may be a stupid idea but make sure your lights are on too cause it wont come on unless your lights are on.

Haha, yes I tried with the lights and 4runner on. I tried both bulbs so I may look into it further. It's not the biggest deal, but would be nice. Thanks!

Sorry to resurrect a dead thread, but did you ever solve that glove box light problem? Mine sounds exactly like yours. New LED, tried both directions, lights on and off, key on and off...nothing. Looked through all fuses in cabin, but not under the hood...

Anyway, just wanted to see if you solved the mystery...

Thanks

I don't believe this....
I stumbled across a thread a about "does my 3gen have a glove box light".. I thought to myself.. ... of course it doesn't.. Then I come to find out that yes, it does... so I go to look in my GB and there it is.
I took my 3G off of the lot brand new in 1997.

The bulb has never worked and I just assumed there wasn't one.. Tonight was the first time I have seen light in my GB in 18 years.... Oh Btw can anyone tell me what square looking thing is next to the light that never existed?

I deserve what's coming have at it.

Use a test light. See if it's getting power when the glove box is open. Also , have you tried putting on your parking lights and seeing if the bulb works. It could be inline with that.

The bulb has that "blackened" part on it so I assume it's bad. I went to Auto Zone they didn't have the bulb so I'll try the dealer later on today. I will bring my meter along for ha ha's.

Where is the plunger or switch for the GB anyhow?(never mind there isn't one)

Thanks

I got light. part #90981-11018 $3

I had to turn on the corner markers... believe it or not. so if it's the middle of the day yes you have to turn on the markers.. if it's at night they should already be on

Had a burnt out bulb in the glove box, purchased bulb, sku# 74_3_W_5K from vleds.com.

At first it did not work, then I re-inserted it after turning it 180 degrees, still no go again and again.

After turning the lights on (even just the first turn of the headlights' switch, without the second full-on stage), the glove box light came on.

Thank you everyone.
