GM SUV/Truck Reverse Lights

Hey GM!!! Reverse lights are supposed to indicate the vehicle is in reverse, not that a soccer mom has used the keyless entry on her SUV!

When I'm driving or riding through a parking lot, I look for reverse lights. GM's ridiculous use of them as a convenience lights can only lead to confusion.

I agree! My family has to listen to me fuss about this often when in parking lots. I have thought about sending an email to Government Motors but assume it would do no good.

I'm completely befuddled by this. How can it be legal? I suppose since the vehicle isn't in motion, the rules don't apply....otherwise I can't imagine how it's allowed.

Strongly agree.

Although, I think GM in general (general generality... weird) is all messed up.

Good reason, though, stupid lights. I think Ford does the same.

^My cobra doesn't do it, but I'm not sure about other Fords.

The reverse lights when unlocking the car is definitely ridiculous. I don't see the point of it whatsoever. GM is a little messed up, everyone can agree I think. I'm surprised at some of the trade ins we have sometimes (a recent one is a 4runner, for an Acadia...) especially given the quality of the cars. To each their own, I guess. I wonder what the purpose of the reverse lights even was...it definitely is a huge distraction when coming up on one being unlocked in a dark parking lot.

Reverse Lights

I own a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado truck that does that - but only when I use the key fob to unlock the doors remotely.

Aside from the backup lights, it turns on the front daytime running lamps as well. At least it doesn't honk my horn!
:bravo:

Since it is a GM vehicle, I am pleased when everything works as it is supposed to -- and hope that it turns out to be as reliable as a Toyota. Doh!

P.S. I bought it used....so spare the flames. I am not a fan of GM cars, for the most part, but think their trucks are not so bad.
