Same here. Google SEARCH is the ONLY Google service i use. I am also using Duckgoduck more lately...it’s only OK because Google search is so damn good.

Been very happy with them and the price is amazing, speed is not bad (2-2.5MB/sec down on my connection). IVPN is a killer VPN I used for years and much faster (no logs, Crypto accepted, 5,9 & 14 eyes-free also), etc. Fully featured and fast but pricey comparatively, based in Malta I believe.

Remember, some VPNs are not any better than Facebook. They can see ALL your traffic and then turn around and sell it to highest bidder. This is why i use the one that is most well-known, not some small operation somewhere in a 3rd world country.

You need to try Disconnect. It is a well-known company that has been praised by big publications (NY Times, TechCrunch, Consumer Reports, etc). FireFox privacy browser is based on Disconnect tracker protection.

The tracker blocking does NOT affect my internet speed. It also does prevent me from visiting dangerous sites, which is nice.

The VPN mode does slow internet speed, as do all VPNs. So, I hardly use VPN unless i am in public space using FREE internet.

The nice thing about Disconnect is that it is well-known in security space and well-respected. So, the chances of them selling my data is very small.

If you're at home with a password protected network you're most likely safer not using a VPN. With HTTPS encryption the only thing exposed is the endpoint to your ISP. That said, many of them have been caught injecting their own code between you and your endpoint, so there's really no one you can trust.

If you're running a full Java suite, Flash, the neat stuff that makes the web fun, https isn't going to do anything if some entity wants to know who you are as far as I understand. Please correct if wrong.


WPA/WPA2 aren't necessarily secure either really. I've seen one hacked (shown just "for fun") and it's not that hard in the right environment I'm told. If you're just looking for some protection, a masked IP and to gain access to region-specific networks then they're great tools. If you're actually worried about real privacy and are doing something you probably shouldn't be then yeah, I wouldn't trust any company.

Yeah, I definitely avoided any of the lesser known ones. And even a few of the larger ones. I'll have to look at Disconnect.

One thing is read over the weekend is that since Disconnect is USA-based, then NSA etc. may have access to it. No fact/event to back this possibility however.

My view on this is that i rather have NSA spy on me than my data being sold on the Chinese black market...as can happen with the smaller VPNs or one that is based in a 3rd world.

Again, there is no evidence that Disconnect VPN allows NSA to spy, but even in the worst case scenario, it is better than the worst case scenario of the other non-USA based VPNs. Just my opinion.
