Go-To 5gal/20l gas cans?

Probably a bazillion lines typed in about fuel cans...

I was wondering what the current favorite fuel cans are? That you can buy for a decent price...thinking under $40-$50.

I was looking for the Specter Military style cans.

Seems like with the last few end of the world scares and that evap law, cans are hard to find and I guess they make them out of gold or something...$165 for a Specter can on eBay...what a joke.

What's the go-to can these days?

Was hoping someone might link a Scepter mil can deal somewhere I missed.
Long gone.

I am still using an old Blitz metal can but even with a good seal it makes a mess.
Used a shaker siphon into a small container, still messy.

Had a square VP that borrowed itself away, it leaked too.

Was looking at these...just those nozzles maybe not the best.

Do the nato cans spouts leak? when you pour.

I use the midwest container cans, on sale for $17 at harbor freight, and add a real lid from ez-pour. they are lower and wider than jerry cans so they are less top-heavy, and they are cheap. to fuel a vehicle, I put them on the roof or the rack and use a jiggler siphon hose.

Next time you are in Canada, pick up a couple of these:

They are nice Scepter cans without a "CARBtarded" spout.

So not really legal?

Probably the best gas can you can find in the USA now.
Double the thickness of a 'normal' gas can. And have a vent. And its green.

I guess... thinking back to the old one I had.
It had launched out of the back of a truck bed, 50+mph hit the ground on the cap and split it...so I could never get it tight, so it would leak. Can was unharmed.
A new cap and it would have been fine.

I finally gave up and bought the rotopax. I have been extremely happy with them and had no issues with leakage that some have reported no doubt they are ridiculously overpriced. Add in costs for the can,mounts (and you have to buy the backing plate separate......) I Want to say it was ~$150 for 4 gallons of storage..........bent over twice and then some. Glad to see another option. Scepter Cans were about equally expensive at the time, granted more storage but as I keep them on the roof all the time and don't have a rear bumper the low profile of the rotopax was my best option.

Lol I bought a set 4 awhile back but then were 200 I would pay 250 no problem ...and those are hands down better than any gas can out there ...no carb non emissions compliant crap, no spill, no leaks even sent them to me in CA. ALSO if I stand them upright on there sides or any which way on my roof rack or even inside my rig I don't even worry and never have smelled or leaked gas.
In just a min I can empty the entire 5gals.

I can't figure out if I need to keep the cap loose to keep it vented or does it only vent when you open it?

The wife does a lot of reviews for Amazon, and scored ONE of these cans for free for me.

I've had it for a week, and so far, I've got to say it's very nice for the price.

Seals tight, comes with the spout and an "extension". The spout itself doesn't fit into a 4Runner filler neck, but using the "extension", you can put it all the way in there.

No leaks. At all.

In comparison, I have two SCEPTER cans that I tactfully acquired before I got out. Used them a few times.

GREAT for storing fuel, not so nice for pouring.

There is a hole in the ring of the can, which is supposed to be the "breather", but I always loose fuel out of it, no matter what angle I have the can at.

That, and the "donkey dick" that comes with the can is designed for the military, which has massive openings for the fuel tanks. I had to make an adapter to be able to get it to fit inside the 4Runner tank.


If the opportunity presents itself, I'll be getting more of the green metal cans.
