Gobi Order Delay Frustrations

Wasn't sure if anyone else was experiencing similar delays, but I've been pretty frustrated with Gobi and trailduty.com where I ordered my stealth rack/ladder/sunroof insert from. 9 weeks before I received the rack, 11 weeks for the ladder and 13+ weeks and counting with still no sunroof insert. Every single time I've had to beg for the information from either Sandra at Gobi or trailduty.com. Not once was a status of my order "pushed" to me. Now I can't seem to get an answer from anyone on my sunroof insert. Just wanted to make others aware if you are considering an order from Gobi or trailduty.com:frusty:

Unfortunately this is standard operating procedure for Gobi. It seems like they piss off 80% of the people that order from them.

I wasn't upset that mine took so long (even though it did) but more so that phone calls were never returned and promises weren't kept. If they just gave a date that was realistic and stuck to it things would be fine!

At least they make a great product.

Good Luck.

Amen Antman! My feelings exactly!

this is the reason baja rack will get my money. The Gobi does look better but their customer service/business practices are plain crap. You have spent roughly $1300+ with them and are being treated like you haven't spent a dime. Not good in my book...

BUT I do hope this works out for you, I learned my lesson after reading all the group buy post's...

My experience was complete opposite. I actually got a call from Sandra verifying my rack build and that it was going to be shipped. It arrived with my sunroof insert and ladder with all hardware. Mine arrived within two months.

Ugg. Most of us more than understand your frustration. And I hate to say it, it's really worth the hassle. Think of it as having to put up with a annoying but very hot chick before getting her in bed.

Received my Gobi rack today from my order in late December. I have a tracking number for the ladder. Haven't figured out where the rest of the accessories are - hoping they're either packed in with the rack or the ladder.

I believe this is another case of vendor issues. I am a GOBI reseller and I've never had any issues with Sandra. Trail duty, in this case, should be the one to blame.

You don't even know if Trailduty placed your order with GOBI when you ordered it. Some vendors, especially online ones, may place orders with their distributors once a week.

You should really be hassling Trailduty for shipping times. You are their customer, not GOBIs. Sandra prioritizes her customers (vendors) phone calls and emails. Another thing that may take longer is any additional customization to the rack, if you chose to do so.

Don't get me wrong, Sandra sometimes takes 48hrs to return my emails. But she returns my calls within the same business day.

I placed my order the Friday after thanks giving. I received the rack at the end of January. I received the ladder the end of February. I have yet to receive the utility box and will be disputing the order in full if I do not have a tracking number by Friday. Exceptionally disappointed with Trailduty.com and DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Ducmonsta ... Thanks for the perspective. Trailduty actually referred me to Sandra in the beginning when I was inquiring about the status of my rack order. Sandra and the rep at Trailduty were answering at first, so I know the order was placed. I got an automated response from trailduty two days ago that they are "on spring break" until the 18th of March but are still checking email. Never will I order from them again and wouldn't recommend them. You are spot on in that Trailduty is ultimately responsible, but In the end ... the order was placed to Gobi just as you would probably do. My order was placed on 8 December and acknowledged by both the vendor and Gobi so I believe both are to blame. It's been a few days since I emailed Sandra so I plan to follow up with a phone call tomorrow. No doubt she's been better at answering emails than Trailduty ... but the fact remains I've had to ask every single time. As others have said ... it is still a great product and I can live without the sunroof insert for awhile if that's what it takes. I had no special customization done ... just the normal build.

I kinda had the same problems. I got my rack used from another member so didn't have to wait on that. But I called Gobi to get some new mounting hardware and paid for it and was told it would ship out the next day. It didn't, nor did it the next day, called about it said it would go out that day and would get an email and tracking info. That was fri. I didn't get either. Emailed again on Tues, They had shipped the product but didn't follow up with either that they had said they would. I run my own business and that is not how you keep customers.

I am with you all on this. I waited quite a long time to receive my rack, but all the parts arrived at once.
A few months later I did have a powder coat issue that was never resolved but settled with Gobi (Sandra) on a set of hi-lift, set of axe/shovel brackets, and a fuel can mount (free). I received the brackets only after calling to ask 10 days after they were supposed to be shipped. Sandra did take care of that and sent them her self. The fuel can mount is on back order so I doubt I will ever see that - just as I doubted I would see my replacement rack arrive.
So sad- the Gobi is a great product but their output is in serious need of fixing. Their business model is all out of whack. They are drowning in their own success.
In the end I am happy to own one and have little regret. Sucks to hear of all the other issues you all are dealing with.

Received an email last night from Trailduty despite them being on spring break. Informed me that I would receive a phonecall from Gobi directly today. Received a call from Gobi today apologizing for the delay in my storage box. They state there is still at least a two week delay but offered another accessory comped for the delay. This is appreciated. Again Gobi, while perhaps not the best prepared, is apparently attempting to satisfy their customers. I still am not impressed with Trailduty.com and still do not recommend them.

Gobi's reputation is the sole reason in the end why I decided not to jump on RIDE's special pricing deal before the first of the year. Baja Rack will see my money when the time comes.

Strange - I ordered my Gobi on the last day of November from trailduty.com and recieved my rack, ladder and sunroof insert right after Christmas. I was missing the mounting brackets but Sandra got them to me a week later (after several calls and emails).

These guys make a great product but it seems that they're in need of help when it comes to managing production and schedules.

email Paul at Gobi

All I have to say is it's an Incredible Product and worth every penny. I have had it for almost two years. Talk to Paul, he gets stuff Done at Gobi.

[email protected]

Just don't B*tch at him, let him know your issues in a professional way and he will get back to you in a reasonable amount of time. Compared to the Baja Rack I think the Gobi looks much better too. If you are not going to mount a bike rack or utilize the cross bars, I would request it to be built without them. Grate all the way w/o cross bars. They will also build it with Rigid LED light mounts. Killer Product, you are missing out if you go elsewhere, just work it out and be patient. Not like a 4 yr old. Ask for the rear struts for the back door. Eventually the stock struts will get weak with the ladder. I also bought the axe and shovel mount. I am extremely happy with this product. Don't be a Dumb Ass and Listen to DJANGO! :fro:
