Gobi Order Delay Frustrations

I need a roof rack for CA to Chicago roadtrip and needed the rack ASAP. Gobi had a 3 month waiting period so I went ahead and got a BajaRack instead. Drove to their San Diego warehouse and picked it up same day. Installed it in their parking lot. Love it!

Sunroof insert arrived yesterday ... 16 weeks and a couple days after placing my order it is finally complete. Next nice weekend I'll work on the install!! Hope it was worth the wait!!

Reminds me that I have Shrockworks sliders on order.....its been so long I sort of forgot. Been almost 12 weeks. Could have learned to weld and maybe fab'd my own in that amount of time. [sigh]

On Friday,I got another box from Gobi. They sent my mounting bolts and gaskets again, and charged me.I got the first set back around the 15th of Feb. Didn't notice that I never got charged for them, now they sent me another set and charged me this time? I don't know what they are doing over there.

I will also be going with the Baja rack. If Gobi hadn't raised prices and maintained the same level of suck on the customer service front it would be a different story.

Gobi Rack Delay - WTF

Ordered my Gobi Rack in mid January. Still nothing at this point. Went through Southeast Overland to handle the order. They have sent about 10 emails and phone calls on my behalf to get updates and were finally told it would ship last Friday on May 5th. Still no tracking detail or confirmation if it actually shipped. I knew going into this about possible delays in when it would arrive, but the lack of customer service by them will not go unnoticed the next time around.

Really? Did you expect anything different?

GOBI has lied about ship dates/ completion dates for years and years. Sandra will tell you whatever you want to hear to get you off the phone.

Good product. Horrible service. Documented ad nauseum on here.

My experience was complete opposite. I actually got a call from Sandra verifying my rack build and that it was going to be shipped. It arrived with my sunroof insert and ladder with all hardware. Mine arrived within two months.

Same here. I was to expect a 6-8 week lead time, but I received mine with all accessories (light mounts & ladder) within 4 weeks...

FWIW, I ordered directly from GOBI and no group by had been done in sometime. Anytime I've had to order any other accessory (hi-lift mount) I received it immediately.

Sorry that you all are experiencing headaches.

Has anyone else that has ordered from GOBI directly experienced these kinds of delays? The consensus that I'm getting is that if you order from trailduty, you're going to experience some kind of delay...

Best of luck to those still hanging on.

Received an email last night from Trailduty despite them being on spring break. Informed me that I would receive a phonecall from Gobi directly today. Received a call from Gobi today apologizing for the delay in my storage box. They state there is still at least a two week delay but offered another accessory comped for the delay. This is appreciated. Again Gobi, while perhaps not the best prepared, is apparently attempting to satisfy their customers. I still am not impressed with Trailduty.com and still do not recommend them.

A company that goes on "spring break".... well there is your first and should be last sign...

Yes they take longer than estimated ship dates and yes they always arrive. We all know this so why is everyone constantly whining about it, just be patient or dont buy a gobi because this rack is not going to satisfy the instant gratification your desiring

Sucks to hear guys. My rack showed up in 9 weeks they said 8-12. I got a call from Gobi that the shipping company will be calling then the next day I got a call as to what time its coming to my house.

I ordered mine in the group buy december 4th and i just got it this week. About 22 weeks. Now thats for the for the group buy. Everything came packaged seperatly but together in one large crate. together and i was really impressed with the attention to detail of everything from the hardware and packaging to the instructions for every piece. They take a long time but worth it i feel. Very happy with the rack.

I ordered out of the group buy about ten weeks ago now. It's one of those "set it and forget it" things. I ordered direct. I'll update when it comes in but I'm not stressing. I figure it will be a nice Christmas present. Just not sure which year I should expect. :becky:

Purchase directly through Gobi and it will take 6-10 weeks to receive it. Purchase through a group buy and it will take 12-20 weeks to receive. I purchased mine in a group buy on Sep. 2nd and received it Dec. 20th.

It was hard to wait patiently for that long but it was worth the wait in my opinion. Great rack and does what I need.

I am sorry to hear that everyone is having delivery issues with their orders. I must say once you get it all is forgotten. I placed my ordered through Trailduty.com in the previous group buy on 10/31/16, (stealth rack with the ladder, sunroof insert, lift gate struts, and tool box). I got an email saying it would be delivered in about 6-8 weeks, well I got it exactly 15 weeks from when I placed my order. I wasn't too concerned about the delivery time, more so if I got it when they promised, it would have been right in the middle of winter where I live and I really didn't have a place indoors to store it until the weather was warmer to install it. Called Gobi beginning of January to check the status of my order, talked to Leslie and said it would be ready for delivery by the end of the month, it was about a week off than she stated. Once I received delivery everything was shipped together, I even salvaged the two full length 2x4s they used for the packaging. Just saying not everyone really has an issue with gobi compared to some other rack makers (which there is a thread listed on here) who over promise and not say anything.

I am ready to order one for my TRDp that I just picked up and would like the full size stealth. Any thoughts on installation or watch outs? Also how much height does it add? Any help would be appreciated.
Thx

Ranger is taller than Stealth. Since the TRDP does not have a sunroof, it would be wise to order the full rack. IIRC they toss in the ladder for free. The struts are up for speculation as I have had mine for ~2 years and no issues with my factory struts as of yet. There are multiple options for the front of the rack regarding the lighting configuration you desire (if any). All in all great addition to any truck.

Feel free to PM with any questions.

What's a ball park savings buying through the group buy? Trying to decide if it's worth waiting for a group buy and then waiting the extra time, or just ordering right now and waiting a couple months.

With the group buy I did I ended up saving about $400. The package included the ladder, HD shocks for the rear door, and a free accessory of my choice. I wasn't in a rush to get the rack and didn't mind the extended wait. Best part is saving some cash for other mods.
