Does anyone have the dimensions of the box their gobi stealth came in?

I've been pricing out the options and it looks like ordering a gobi to the US/CAN border will save me about 450 dollars in shipping costs...yeah!

The problem is how will I get my rack back home without installing it? I have about a 2.5 hour drive on the highway to get home.

Can I fit it in the runner at an angle with the liftgate partially open... could I strap it too the roof?

The factor rails are angled inwards, so the box should overhang on either end. You could add some center support by making some Ikea roof bars (i.e. fold cardboard into a triangular tube and lay those on the roof with the point pointing upwards) and running your straps through them so they stay in place. measure roof to top of the factory rails in order to make sure you make your Ikea-bars tall enough.

If you have concerns about the cardboard scratching your roof, pick up some chair-felt (you know... those round stick on thingies) or put a blanket under them. It's a bit red-neck but should get you home just fine. especially since it's only a one-time deal.

Been there done that going from the Schaumberg Ikea (Chicago) back home to Indy.

He'll- I would strap tie it directly to your factory roof rack. 2 ratchet straps

Talked to Sandra today...she said they had to make a slight revision to the production ladder...should ship by the end of next wk.

I talked to her on wednesday to change my credit card info and she said they're having powdercoating problems, and they should go out this week or next week. Even my hi-lift mount hasn't shipped and I ordered one 3 weeks ago!

Nothing received

I have yet to receive anything. When I ordered they game me a forecast of June 26. I realize we did have July 4 holiday and that they likely got quite a few orders but I was hoping to install it over the holiday weekend (as it ended up it was a little too warm that I may not have wanted to actually do the install this weekend, but ...).

On Friday (slightly late PST) I sent an inquiry of the status but have not yet received a response. I suspect I will get a response today (they were quite responsive when I was initially considering the purchase).

Hopefully it arrives before this weekend and hopefully this weekend is not as warm here as this past weekend.

So for those who are only missing the ladder I am envious even though I understand your eagerness to have the complete order.

I got my invoice emailed to me and the charge showed up on the credit card as pending (interestingly enough it's not showing now) ... haven't gotten a call from the shipping company though...:dammit:

gotta check to see if I have some automotive silicon laying around for the tubes and then I'm ready to get the rack put on...

The wait was shorter and easier to get a rack on the Mrs. than getting a new rack on the car! hahhahahah :girl:

Only rack I have is on the wife and it is not big enough :=).


I still have no roof rack, ladder, sun roof insert, or reply to the inquiry I sent late last week requesting updated status (their estimate had been June 26).

Maybe I can hope that when I do receive the roof rack that it also has the ladder and sun roof insert. That would make the additional wait more worth it.
