Gobi Rack Wind Noise

I have the Gobi stealth, and I do 70 miles highway driving a day usually around 80mph. I played around with mine, with nothing on the rack, no faring and no light bar the wind noise was insane. Better with the faring on. The light bar is 40" straight both light bar and faring the noise was okay. Removed the faring and just running the light bar and I hear no noise.

Damn, wish i woulda known about the no rise option before, me likey!

I didn't know about it either, when I called Gobi to order I was asking about the rise in the front and describing to the woman what I was going to use the rack for (paddle boards and surf skis). I was trying to see if I could improvise something to overcome the front bar being higher, when she told me they could build it "no rise". Although it took a little longer than I hoped to get it, I can't say enough about how well they treated me.

Had to laugh. When I saw you drove 80 I glanced at your profile to see where you lived. Boston. That explains it! You're probably the slowest guy on the highway at 80. Once when lived there I was going down the Mass Pike at 80 and the guy next to me drifted over and we bumped mirrors. All in a day's drive in Mass.

Roof rack noise? Time to turn up the rock and...um...rock!

...but seriously that no-rise option for the Gobi rack is good to know about:thumb:

That's cool man, glad they were able to hook you up! On a semi-related note, wasn't the surf ski Thomas Magnum's preferred method of exercise in Hawaii? Are you sleuthing about in a T4R instead of a Ferrari? ;)

That's interesting info here. I'm going to have to try it to see how well it works in my area

I keep hearing that the light bar is a good solution. At least the only one I can apply to my existing rack. I live in WINDY West Texas and the wind noise is... wow! That being said... it is the best damn rack I have ever seen. I'll deal with the noise and save for a light bar.
Any suggestions for a 40 inch bar that doesn't cost more than the rack itself? Have mercy!

I just ordered my Gobi stealth and 40" light bar, your right very expensive, i hope it is worth $3,000, then i have to have a local shop install it. Somebody please reassure me i will love the function and look. Can i hit the led bar on in the fast lane so idiots will move over?

I assume that's a joke? Because no you can not.

They can get up there ....eBay has some light bars at a decent price .....but top notch rigid light bars are damn near 1k ....wither way some light is better than no light
