Heard back on my inquiry.. "gobi is getting close to shipping your order" whatever that means, i'm glad i'm moving on
My order confirmation is time stamped 7 minutes after Jicko sent out the first round of ordering instructions. After no responses to my first two requests, I finally got a response for an ETA. Not shipping out until mid-January aka week 12-13. Less than thrilled to hear this and very confused as to why this is the case.

Man I figure mine will be sent around February the way you guys are talking. But then again I came on to this group buy thinking mid to end of February.
You have to figure ... theres what a 100 people in this grout buy alone. Plus Christmas & New years... there's what less than 17 days for this year... Come on just be patience and wait.
Maybe the people that got their racks early was rack designs they had in stock. Or was in their current run of racks. I don't know... I ordered mine with removable cross bars & light bar ready... maybe that will cause alittle delay cuz of customizations I ordered.
We got a HUGE discount !!! In return for us waiting... I'm fine with mid to end of February. That's more than fair for the major savings I got...

Lol yeah I just read through most of this thread, and seemed like that's how it works. But all good. I missed the closing date so just went and ordered one a few weeks back
Wished I made the deadline though, getting it earlier probably won't justify the price difference with the groupbuy. Lol

I don't have the money to pay full price and shipping... so I joined this group buy. I'm patiently rocking back in forth in my chair with excitement; waiting to get my rack...
Luckily I can buy other mods to keep me busy while I wait...

Depending on which rack you have, there are people who want the factory rack. Seems the black racks that came on the Trail (and SR5 i think) are desirable for limited owners. I sold my factory trail rack in the classifieds here. Been driving around with no rack on my truck for a bit now while I wait for my Gobi and i think it kind looks cool. Kinda reminds me of UN/NATO trucks because for some reason most of them have no racks.
Also i should mention that my gas mileage went up to about 45 MPG since i removed the factory rack. I better not get used to that...

Did you just re-install the bolts in the holes once you took off your factory rack? I've been thinking of doing that too, mainly because I'm just antsy, but was curious what a slick top would look like and how it would hold up the elements (what little we've got here in Vegas). Funny you mention the UN/NATO trucks, I was thinking of the up-armored Land Cruisers in Afghanistan!

I installed some short 8mm bolts and some silicone. We had a few days of heavy rain since I've taken it off and have no signs of leaks.

Has anyone heard anything lately? I called Trail Duty a few weeks ago and was told they were trying to get all racks delivered by the end of the year, which is rapidly approaching!
I was told first or second week of january for shipment when i talked to trail duty around the 1st week of december. I only messaged them because a few people that ordered around the time i did were getting their racks and I was out of the country so i had to leave my wifes contact info in case they were trying to reach me.

Ordered Oct. 26th and was told 4 - 8 weeks. Currently at 8.5 weeks and still eagerly awaiting. Emailed TD on 12/11, and they supposedly reached out to Gobi for an update. Haven't heard back so I followed up again on 12/19. No response yet.
Glad some folks have received theirs already. Gives me hope, and an answer to my wife when she asks if it was a scam.
Was really hoping to have it installed before my New Years tip, but it's really looking like that isn't going to happen.
I do realize they have a 113 of them to custom make (plus the holiday rush). A little communication on the delay would go a long way right now...
