That is correct. If I open it half way, sometimes it will stay there (depending on weather), but it has more of a tendency to want to shut. Once I push it all the way open, it has no problem staying open.
The plus side is it is very easy to shut.

A few years ago, I ordered some stronger gas springs on eBay for a fiberglass tonneau that I put a bike rack on: Columbia Struts, I gave them my OEM part number and they helped guide me to a set that worked great for me. I didn't experience any durability issues, about the same price as a set of wiper blades.
They only offer the better shocks for the 5th gen for some reason.
I was planning on researching it further to see if I could figure out an upgrade, but I haven't had a lot of time and I was holding out hope that Gobi actually does have a 4th gen option.

You lucky bastards.. I should've ordered mine at the end of October instead of at the end of January... :| Hopefully they've produced the big batches and mine will move faster !
I ordered mine on 10/22 and I don't have it yet so don't worry and get ready to wait (probably)! I got the shipping notification 7 days ago and it said it would take 5-10 days. No call yet and day 10 is Saturday and then there's Sunday and then Monday is a holiday so unless I get it on Saturday it looks like I won't have it until next week!
Tomorrow starts my 17th week since I ordered.

I just called Gobi to see what was going on and they called the shipper and then called me back with the scoop... They said the shipper said they left me voicemail and have been trying to deliver (not true). I asked when they called and they couldn't tell me when they called and only that they have called several times. I asked for the shippers number and they reluctantly gave it to me. I called the shipper directly and they asked where i lived and what i was expecting and they said "oh yeah i think we have a delivery to make somewhere around there!". So long story short, I had to call and schedule my delivery and it is not setup for this Friday morning (which is 16 days for shipping). Can't wait for this ride to be over!!
