Rack was delivered today, 2 days short of 14 weeks from ordering through Trail Duty.

Working at a business that ships a lot of items via freight, I was pleased with the pack job and felt like I got my money's worth on that front.

Waiting to install the rack though. After removing the original rack I realized the truck needed a good wax and the old rails needed some rattlecan.

Final impression to follow.

Just a heads up I ordered through GOBI 2 weeks ago direct. They gave me the same free ladder and wind fairing deal as Trail Duty. They told me the lead time on my rack would be 6-8 weeks. I then asked if I could get the pricing from the group buy the rep told me they would honor it (saves roughly about $100) but that the lead time on the rack would be 12-16 weeks. She told me that basically the group buy stuff gets pushed to the back of the line when they get orders in and that's why it takes longer. So now its the waiting game?

Yesssss! I ordered one 4 weeks ago, and they told me 6-8 weeks. I have a trip coming up in another 8 weeks. But I had been reading the forums here and saw it was taking 3,4,etc months for people to get theirs so figured they exaggerated to get the sale. So there's hope! Although, I suppose my non-GB order further delays everyone elses. :hiding:

I guess it's ok to let the cat out of the bag.

Someone on this thread didn't order his/her's rack thru trail duty. They went straight to GOBI and got the group buy price. And they ordered it in late November early December and they received their racks on Jan.

Went they received their racks before I did ... I kinda got perturbed. But then again I wasn't home and was working crazy hours to really worry about it... So it was ok waiting alittle longer.

What I've learn from this experience is. Gobe makes group buy racks on a single jig while the direct order racks gets put out of the another jigs.

Was it worth it... Getting the rack; YES. Getting the group buy price; YES. Waiting long to get it; NO. Would I do it again; YES if it helps out because we have more buying power as a whole that just an individual...

GOBI said they are not willing to do another group buy until September. Maybe that is when they have calculated the last rack from the last GB will be done.:zoom:

It's about damn time. Congrats on finally getting it.

Unfortunately, I got the call 4 hours before leaving on my vacation. I didn't get back until Saturday evening. Delivery is scheduled for this Friday. Hopefully I will get it installed Friday as well (as long as I can get some help).

When mine gets delivered this Friday it will have been a total of 24 weeks 1 day since I ordered NOV 5th.

Just FYI, mine took 24 weeks and 1 day to get delivered. I ordered NOV 5th and it was delivered APR 22nd. Also, when the delivery company called to tell me they were about 30 min out I was asked if I had any way to get it off of the truck because I didn't pay for delivery assistance. I told her that delivery assistance was never an option.

For those that have installed the ladder, did you also change out the gate struts to the heavy duty ones or are the stock ones able to hold the weight of the gate and ladder? I have the heavy duty struts, but was just curious. I haven't found instructions for changing them out yet, but haven't busted my ass looking for them either.

I changed out mine as well... It's stupid easy bro. It's just clips that holds them in place. At first it will be hard to take them out. Just make sure the clips are completely out ( but still attached). And you have a second set of hands or a tall ladder and some thick rags to hold the gate while you replace the struts. Good luck

Whats up everyone. FYI. I ordered my roof rack on Feb 5th. Got the call today finally and will be delivered tomorrow. Took a total of 11 weeks. Ordered through Trail duty. I started to email them Trail duty within the 8 week mark. Communication was great. I also contacted Gobi and kept me up to date on status. Excited and cant wait to install it this weekend.

For those of you running LED on the roof rack to a bussmann or similar, what gauge of wire are you using? I've got a 40" for the light bar and a 25" for the Southern Style hybrid bumper, both going to a bussmann and two separate switches in the cab. The 40" has a wiring harness, but because I am using the bussmann, I don't think I will need it. The 25" just has about 12 inches of the positive and negative/ground.
