I emailed Gobi with all the info they requested and got a relatively quick reply. My credit card company credited me back...which is one reason I like to pay by cc. Gobi offered to keep me in the queue and honor my old TD order date and price. Not much to complain about on my end besides a little hassle. But in the scope of the situation, who cares? A guy passed away suddenly...that is much more significant than having to get in an order queue again or call your credit card company.
This has been discussed a bunch, but Gobi doesn't charge you until they ship a rack. Trail Duty charged as soon as you ordered. So TD had your/our money months before they had to pay that debt off, and they got to use those funds. You can't expect Gobi to just eat that and deliver for free. TD having money has no connection to Gobi getting paid if TD is no longer operating. If TD had waited to charge a credit card until Gobi shipped this would not be an issue. TD's method is probably standard business practices but it doesn't come without some risk.
Hope all works out for everyone on all ends.

I enjoy all the anti gobi posts all over the forum. Every time I see one I smile inside knowing by purchasing and enjoying my rack their blood pressure rises just a wee bit more. I like it so much that I just put in order for a 2nd stealth rack for my sisters 4runner!

HAHAHA I thought I was the only one!!! I love the "I'm so glad I didn't buy a Gobi Rack....." posts coming out every time something Gobi related comes up. And in this case, It sounds like its not even Gobi's fault! They will STILL blame Gobi!
Get a life folks. Seriously. If you don't have one, or waiting on one, don't worry about it.

If you live in WA or OR, you can truly disregard Gobi wait times and other drama etc. I called this dealership at 8am today (after discovering this post last night) and my truck was in their service bay at 245 getting the stealth installled. There are at least 3 remaining in stock. If you're looking for this rack, call here and get it done. It's MSRP. If your facile, then pick it up and install yourselves. If not, have them do it and talk with Wes in Parts - he is a straight shooter and will steer you right. Hopefully my schedule lets me pick up my truck tmrw with rack ready for the summer. Thanks TDub. Beers on me should our paths ever cross. This forum rocks.

About 2.5 hours worth: I think <$300 but I haven’t seen bill yet. I also did not have them run any wiring up top.
I would go down there and do this but the wait through Gobi is allowing me to save up a little extra discretionary funding to make it sting a little less. Plus, I'd be curious if they stock the no-rise option since that's a little add-on.
They charged me 3 hours labor. I figured by the time I borrowed a truck, made the 1.5 hour round trip drive to get the rack (won’t fit in the 4Runner), then enlisted a friend to help me the 3 hours labor to get it done was worth it.

That was my rationale as well. My schedule is such that it would have sat in the garage after a Herculean effort to get the damn thing using a uHaul to Portland, etc. And my offer stands: pint on me

Any advice on how to reach anyone handling the Trail Duty affairs? American Express won't give me credit back due to the age of the order (early November). And obviously I have made multiple phone calls and emails to Trail Duty with no reply. I've left a message with Gobi as well to see if they have other contacts, but I'm not holding my breath. I spoke with them last week and my rack is ready to ship, but they are holding it until my dispute is resolved...which is going nowhere.
Or if anyone wants to pay a premium for a no rise rack, get in touch. I don't really have the money to buy another and sit and hope for months that I ever see a cent of my original payment.
Such crap luck...I would have rather walked up to a homeless person and gave them 1600 bucks.

Call AMEX and get a supervisor on the phone. There shouldn’t be a statute of limitations on opening a dispute if the order required prepayment and was never fulfilled. This is why you pay interest!

Started with a phone call and they referenced the 60 day limit to dispute through the Fair Credit Billing Act, so I then tried an online dispute. They've attempted to contact TD a few times along with the rest of us. I was hoping they'd grant some goodwill and it could just be written off by them since it's hardly a drop in the bucket.
