GOBI Stealth is Here

Picked it up yesterday. They will have both the Stealth and Ranger available. There are 6 supports: 4 utilize the factory roof rack mounts and have GOBI lasercut into the support and the 2 in the front sit in the gutter for additional support, so no drilling is required.

With the lift, tires and rack, the car measures 78inches tall. Going 70, there is barely any wind noise due to the fairing in the front. I actually had more noise with my Thule bars mounted to the factory rails.

I'm not sure I understand how these "catch all" racks work.

Do you just duct tape all your junk onto the top and hope it doesn't blow off on the highway?

Also, does this thing interfere with XM reception/

Looks good. Good to see the racks are starting to show up for the 5th gen. ARB is supposed to release their racks for the 5th Gen in September.

Question:
Can you get mesh in the front instead of the opening for the sunroof? Guess its not a big deal either way, just curious.

You use straps, not duck tape, to hold items down. When you correctly secure items, you do not need to "hope" that they do not blow off.

These "catch all racks" are so you can utilize your whole roof to carry items such as: a roof top tent, carry your spare tire up top, carry water and gas, use it as a platform for taking pictures/sleeping, put an axe, shovel and an hi lift up top, 4 extra driving lights in the front and 2 backup lights can be installed, the rack can hold almost 4x as much weight as the factory crossbars.

I have had no problems with XM reception.

You can distribute the weight of a large item across the whole roof. It is also a good place to put lights (the rack has 4 mounting points in the front). If you put thule/yakima crossbars uptop as well, you can fit items across the whole roof. You can also put the mesh floor upfront as well so you have even more floor space to place items.

I see you haven't yet come clean on the cost. Based on the pricing of other Gobi racks, I'm guessing your rack put a $1500 dent in your T4R build budget.

Would love to order the Gobi Stealth but the shipping to Canada (about $400!!) kills it for me.

You mentioned, and you can see in the pic, that the front brace does not physically mount to the 4R, just rests in/on the gutter. Is that metal on metal (rack on roof?) If so I would worry about the paint becoming damaged, then possibly rusting in a salty environment. Just curious....

Wow. I had a heavy duty rack fabricated fully custom to my specs for a Blazer that had all the light tabs, grabs handles, and a wicked hinged front metal plate to protect the front 4 lights for $400. Guess I am unfamiliar with what Gobi does to make this so expensive.

I don't get the upper cross rails which would impede how I have used a rack. If they are needed for a specific reason I would have made them removable so you can still have a full basket. The rack also seems to slope noticeably from front to back. I understand the truck roof slopes in both directions, but I would have raised the back a bit to make it more level.

Nonetheless, the overall truck looks great.

There are actually rubber pads between the support brackets and the roof, so the metal will not come in contact with the paint

The purpose of the crossbars is to replace the factory crossbars to fit aftermarket accessories such as thule and yakima, bike, kayak, cargo boxes. You can still use aftermarket bars to attach to the side rails for additional space, but you have options.

The reason for the slope is because my driveway is slanted. I just remeasured and the front is 1inch lower than the rear. But that is due to how I have the suspension set.

Can you mount a rooftop tent to it? Nice rack!
