God I hate PO420!!!!

So after a year or so of replacing both o2 sensors with cheapys (bosch) i have another check engine light effiecency below threshhold bank 1, well luckly its still under warranty so im hoping after i replace it the light goes out, no exhaust leaks, rear o2 is only year old or so and my cat does not smell or get hot or seem like its plugged or broken inside........i guess i will find out when new one comes in....hope i dont have to buy a f%$#ing cat. I have herd from some few other the bosch ones are junk and dont last long. Any one have any simialer problesm with cheap ones..???

Ditto. I tried the cheap way out and bought the Bosch. Within 3 months I put in denso. No P0420 after that. However, I also learned that both should be replaced at the same time. They seem to play together.

Yeah I figured I would do front first since its warrantied and will be free. then I will do the rear after if problem still happens. ai wonder why the bosch are so ****ty......how much where the oem denso's??

Emissions label under the hood--or just look to see if you have 2 cats (Cali.) or one (49-state Federal.)

yeah there are to chambers....but one looks like a resonater...and when i went there with the old one it matches up with the federal emissions one not the cali one ?....and under the hood on the inside of the hood there is a sticker that says meets cali regulations. So im completly confused on what to think. the 2 chambers dont realy look like the same so is it a resonater or whats going on??

If it has a heat shield, it's a cat. I ordered my sensors from a Toyota dealer online when I had a P0420. I didn't waste my time with the Bosch stuff.

I had the P0420 code for a while and I ordered Denso O2 sensors from amazon. I got the part numbers from Oxygen / AFR Sensors - Underdog Racing Development

Make sure you find the right part numbers according to year, model (2wd or 4wd) and emission (cali or fed)
I found Amazon to have the cheapest prices. I just replaced my rear O2 sensor as it looked like it was the original one. I reset the code and it hasn't been back and hopefully won't be for a long time! Changing your o2 sensor is very easy. Soak the rusted areas with pb blaster or some type of rust catalyst and invest on some good sockets that are designed to bite on crusty or rusted parts. I bought mine from autozone and they were made by "IRWIN" Great stuff. Good luck!

Yeah, good tips here. Amazon is the cheapest I found, and the URD site appears to have the correct part numbers (I was directed to the wrong ones from another site, don't remember which it was).

As far as Denso vs Bosch, I think Denso has some proprietary technology they use in their sensors that makes them better. On amazon, the difference is only about $20, and well worth it.

BTW, I have that same code, and just ignore it. I have a scangauge and just clear it when it comes up. I snuck by inspection with it, so I don't ever plan on fixing it. I may replace both O2's at some point (I replaced just the rear with the wrong part number, though it seems to still work well enough).

yeah im guessing its gotta be the front one, my gas milage is horrible and the front is what controls the fuel trim and what not, i just hope i dont have to buy new cats being i have cali model cause i have 2 convertors. hate all this stupid emission bull ****.... what happen to good old days where we had 4 barrels and stright exhausts.......:guitar2:
