Going for a GX 460 this time

Well I sold my 4runner limited in 2017. It had 200k on the clock and was in perfect running shape but someone offered me enough so. I have been driving my old F-150 since then with occasionally driving my fiancé's jeep cherokee. I was ready to get back to a T4R then starting looking at the GX premiums. I found a used 2011 GX Premium with crawl control etc. I got it for 18k with 125k on the clock so I pulled the trigger.

What's everyone think of the GX 460's that have had one?

We have a 2016 Limited and a 2018 GX and unquestionably the GX torque is a big plus. I hate that the hatch swings to the side and you can’t roll down the back window but in every other way it’s a 4Runner but slightly improved. I love the little things you get with the GX like rain sensing wipers and the side mirrors tilting down in reverse. You’ll love the GX....solid choice!

I believe he is saying he sold a 4Runner in 2017, not that it was a 2017 model.

I have a 2018 TRD ORP that I've had for 20k miles, and my parents just picked up a 2019 GX460 Premium a month ago. I've only taken it out for <10 miles, but initially, I was surprised by all of the off road options in it including the 4Hi/4Lo and assistance buttons (crawl control / atrac / etc), and it definitely feels nicer inside. The leather is better, the wooden steering wheel feels good, just more refined overall. My only complaints were that it looks uglier than a 4Runner, and the 3rd row seats really limit the cargo space it feels like.

Will try to revisit this thread once I can drive it more.
 
We got one earlier this year, it's fantastic. I will say I preference the climate controls in my Limited though, you have to press 3x buttons to get to the AC in the Lexus. Otherwise it's been wonderful, I drive it to SF twice a month.

Supposedly this is the last year of the GX in the states. I’m curious if the new 4Runner will just be a rebadged Prado, but there’s other threads for that. I agree though the current GX does have a “dated” Lexus feel. Still a premium ride though, obviously so when you drive them back to back for awhile.

I have heard that too, not sure if it’s 2019 or 2020 for last year, but also just a rumor too. I doubt the 4Runner will be a rebadged Prado. They’re going to bring over the 3.5 V6 for the 4Runner as the Prado has a 4.0 V6 in it. The 4Runner will get a redesign for 2022 or 2023 probably.

in addition to the side hatch swing, i do not like the gas mileage either. everything else are good

Gotta have a side hatch if it's sold in markets where you have a door mounted spare, otherwise you need a bulky swingaway carrier... which sucks on many levels.
 
I like the GX, but if you intend to actually use it off road all that plastic murders your approach and departure angles. Plus the molded steps on the side are obtrusive and kill break over angles. Capable truck and super nice...but not great in stock body.
