going with a daystar spacer lift, questions on 1.5" vs. 2.5" kits and possible issues

im still worry about my lift, maybe i will wait even more, but its almost impossible to get the propers part to get lift, like OME or LC coils because those are very expensive down here, the spacer are the only opportunity because the low price, Brand New 14$ made of aluminium.

How many miles on your rear coils? I can assure that the daystar spacer has not squished any. Just look at it and youll be able to tell. Your truck is lowering because the coils are sagging, which the rear spacer plays no part in. The fact that the coils are sagging within the last year is simply coincidental. Chances are it was already sagging before you added the rear spacer

you might be right on that one.. I don't think the rear coils have ever been changed. The shocks have, but not the coils. I might look into swapping them out.

today I installed the 1.5 on the back
its a bandaid fix in my opinion
I have a few more camping trips to go this summer and I have the sagging wagon thing going on. I could have just thrown some new moog springs on the back, but this was cheaper
why did I go cheap, cause this fall im doing all new springs and shocks on all corners ( not moog), the big brake upgrade, and energy suspension rack bushings and sway bar bushings.

the difference in ride was very good, made it obvious that the front is getting weak

instructions are too simplified, like a 3 step toilet ....turn off water, remove toilet, install new one

while the instructions that come with the daystars might be ok if you got a lift, it just says remove lower shock bolts , remove bolt from panhard, lower diffy, remove springs install new spacers , some prying may be needed

this is what I will add and made it so simple
remove wheels ( so much more access)
remove sway bar links ( unbolt at top at bushings)

this really made things easy to get to and with the sway bar links disconnected the diff drops even lower and is more "flexible" requiring little "prying" could install by hand with no prying with a pry bar...just muscle
I discovered this after prying hard and said to myself , drop the sway bar....made all the difference in the world

one other little thing, today I also picked up 6 ton jack stands at harbor freight, with coupon they were 39 a pair, at bottom they sit as high as 3 ton jack stands fully extended, extended they are about 7 inches higher than 3 tons, might not sound like much, but it is

If it's not too late to talk you out of a spacer lift, I'd like to try.

It will ride like crap. Skittering all over the highway, bouncing off road imperfections, ultra-stiff, crap.

That being said, if you still want spacers, I have a Daystar kit for $80.

If you're willing to open the wallet just a tad more, you could run TRD Tundra strut/springs, and some used Land Cruiser 7 wraps.

OK, I'm going to bite. I'm not advocating spacers just want to know something. I'm assuming you base the statement of skittering and bouncing on your own experience, or is there another factor. Reason I ask is truly there is no reason a spacer would cause any of those symptoms. Now if the shock travel were affected, that's a different scenario.

So in the case of a 1 or 1.5" spacer you have changed the location of the spring, but nothing else, the body/frame move away from the axle the corresponding distance. There is no dynamic involving the ride, or handling. Your claim appears baseless, unless I'm missing something. Feed back is always appreciated.

I've come to learn more about how spacer lifts work in the time since posting that. I can simply share this, I have had two spacer lifts on two different 3rd gen 4runners; both rode horribly. I don't know exactly why, I don't know if the shocks were to blame or if the springs had been over compressed, but it was terrible. This feedback is baseless in that I don't have any hard data to support my report, but suspension is already very subjective, so I'm not sure how I could really substantiate my claim.

Unsubstantiated claims. I tell you, what a dummy, this absalom guy. so dumb

I run 12" spacers and it rides like a Porsche 911
