Well after 10 straight years of driving a 4Runner i find myself "4Runner-less". I loved my 98 and I loved my 03... but this weekend i walked into my Toyota dealer and they had 0% for 60 mo. on the new CrewMax Tundra... and well... i heard 5.7L's calling my name. So i traded in my 03 (got $20K for it) and i am now enjoying my new ride.

You guys have fun!... and maybe i will come back to the 4Runner when the 5th gen is released.

At least i stayed in the Toyota family (this is my 4th one... i don't think i will ever leave.)

That new Tundra is a beast. I test-drove one last Saturday, but it was a "regular cab" 4x4 with the 5.7 "iForce" V8. I stood on the "go" pedal and it flat-out hauled a$$. The six-speed automatic was smooth as butter too.

I really loved the truck, but the EPA fuel mileage sticker knocked me backed into reality. Heck, my T4R with a V6 already eats enough unleaded. The Tundra's 14 city and 18 highway mpg is going to hurt when gas goes above $3 again.

My lease on my SR5 runs out in January, so I kind of have my eyes open for something else. The Tundra's nice, but is really way more vehicle than I need.

Maybe it is time to think about a 4-cylinder RAV4, eh? I still have a crush on the new Mustangs, though. We shall see.

Thanks. The truth is the Tundra won't be much worse than my V8 4Runner. So i took a step back... but not all that far back... but yes... it certainly ain't Prius.

Congrats. I love the CrewMax, it's awesome. The 5.7 in some aspects gets better mileage than the 4.7.

Try 12 MPG with my 2000 Ram, running PREMIUM only due to my Mopar Performance PCM, with a mostly stock 5.9L Magnum. This truck is my Daily Driver too.....

Or 7 MPG on my 96 Ram, which runs Premium only, running 12.3:1 CR, bored out .030 5.9L Magnum block, forged internals, race ported heads and intake, a huge cam and a custom programmed PCM from B&G, and LOTS of other goodies. This truck RARELY even get's started. It was actually started this past Saturday for the first time in six months, since it was my first Saturday off from work since January and I got to visit my parent's property where I keep it stored. Put some fresh fuel in it and some Sta-Bil. The truck was built just a year or so before the gas prices hit sky high, and since then, it just costs too much to drive it anywhere. So I lost interest in it.

And premum around here is about 3.25 a gallon at the reputable stations..... :awais:




But yeah, those new Tundra's are WICKED looking. I've been eyeballing them since I first saw one on the road. Congrats on yours. Maybe in a year or two I might be rollin in one :bigok:

It too is way more truck than I need at the moment. I'm getting into SUV's since I have a few different trailers to pull and haul with.

That crew max is fricken awesome , I showed it to my dad an he was like holy chit !!! I hope you have good luck with it . Did the dealer say anything about the motor and the problems , if they have all been fixed.

Don't know what I will get next , maybe an H3 or Tahoe depending on what I need and what the new 4R looks like. If they make it more street friendly .....i'm out of Toyota and will back to domestic.
