good deal? 2001 4 runner 84kmiles

Hello All.
I am new to the 4wd world but looking to start.

I am looking at this from a dealer.

2001 sr5 4wd 4 runner
84k miles
no sun roof
no roof rack but it has the runners where you can insert the legs?

I got him down to 10,500$. + ttl. He wanted 10,850.

I am going to go and look at it but so far it looks to be pretty clean.
Any help is appreciated.

it seems a bit pricey for an SR5 model, no leather, as you say no sun roof, not optioned out.

the low miles are nice but keep in mind that at 90K our T4R's require major servicing....new timing belt and water pump, along with the usual 30K mile interval services. This particular T4R is 6K miles short of needing all of that.

Have it checked out, if it's sound, runs good, tires/brakes ok etc, and it's extra clean, close by and you want it, I'm sure if you don't buy it some else will, you normally just can't buy low miles for less than 10K

I would think these are all some things you can use to try and negotiate the price down a little more. He really diidn't budge much from his asking price. IMO but hey, it's always easier to spend someone else's money

Without alot of the options, I would def try to get him down lower.. But with the mileage, it may be hard. As others have said, you just dont see alot of T4Rs with low miles. Have you checked out nada.com or kbb.com to see what its actually worth?
If you can swing that price its not a bad buy- Ive got 00' limited- 221K only issues I've had was the transfer case- which made me wish i bought an SR5 lol. But you can expect to easily get that much out of it. So while its not a bad buy, Id either get him down on the price or keep shoping.

Like Four_Flusher said, a lot of it comes down to condition. Also, keep in mind that while 84k sounds low, the big tune-up (timing belt, water pump, etc etc) is suggested at 90k.

Yeah I think it's alittle pricey. I paid 11k 2 years ago for my 2000 Limited with 79k on the clock. All dealer maintained and have records too. I'd pass on it.

Over $10K does seem a little high for a base model SR5 - no sunroof, leather fender flairs etc... But it only has 84K miles which is very good - don't worry about any impending repairs if it has documented maintenance reciepts and it checks out with your mechanic (this is a most).

I always look at who owned the car I'm about to buy, was it a soccer mom who never had it in 4WD? Never took it off road? Mostly highway miles? Or did some 19 year old maniac go wheelin' in it who liked to drive thru ponds?
Also the location of where the truck was driven plays a factor.
