That is a nice looking 4 runner. I would not give him 10,000 dollars for a vehicle that is 17 years old regardless of condition. I think you could find a better deal. I paid less than that for my 04 2 years ago...granted it had more miles. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

How long have you been shopping, and how many have you test-driven so far w/ similar pricing?
I think if you test-drove 4-5 at the same price but newer, you'd easily pass.
You need to try out a few others at that price to see what you'd be missing out on.
I paid $9,800.00 for my 2003 in July this year, 100K, excellent condition all around, single owner, all records, drives like a dream, win win win.

I've been looking for about a month. I found a 05 limited 4x4 103k for 15k. And a 05 limited 108k for 14k.
Bad deal unless it has a supercharged 3.4 from trd mint condition interior and frame with a brand new suspension and it was a 2002...
Put it in perspective as mentioned before its a 17 year old truck. I paid a little over $26,000 for my 4runner brand spanking new in 1991! and it aint even worth $1500 KBB! (its in pretty good condition too!) Not that I would ever sell my 4runner... that guy selling it needs to be brought down to earth

I asked the dude to shave off some 2k. He wouldn't even do that. I guess il just have to keep looking.
If it actually only has 96,000 miles on it, and it is in good condition, 10 grand is not unheard of.
He probably won't get that locally, but a good condition, low mileage 17 year old truck starts gaining value at some point, it's up to the market to figure out when.
You can't compare it to a higher mileage 4th gen, because there are a lot of those around, there aren't a lot of low mileage 3rd gens left.

Yeah that's true. I need it more like a family car and I plan to keep it till the wheels fall off. So that's one thing that has me debating. It's below my budget but In comparison in a 4th gen you get more technology overall.

I have had both 3rd and a 4th gen. We just lost our 3rd gen last year in a car accident where it was totaled. It was an amazing vehicle. I actually have spent more on my 4th gen then I did with the 3rd gen. Still 17 years old is 17 years old. Sure it might gain a little value since it has such low mileage but 10 thousand dollars.....I would NOT do it. Especially because you don't know what gremlins it might have that just haven't showed up yet. Others peoples problems sure do suck when you have to pay for them... whatever route you decide to go I wish you luck.

That is definitely high, but all depends on how much you want it and if it's possibly better than the rest as far as condition. In AZ you don't have to worry much about rust if it's local, but one thing you do want to keep an eye out for is any of your bushings and other rubber/plastic components. They tend to wear out much faster in dry warm areas like AZ.

I don't think it is a bad deal, as he'll likely get close to what he is asking. It certainly is not a good deal. I just purchased a 2000 with 91k for $6500. That was a great deal, but I had to shop long and hard and work on the seller for 2 months. It needs some work (timing belt, suspension), but I also know I could sell it for $8500 tomorrow if needed.
