Good Deal on a 1997?

Hi all,

I've been browsing through the posts here as I've been looking for a used 4runner, and now I need some advice.

I found a 97 4runner with 170k miles. Timing belt and water pump replaced at 150k. Maintenanced regularly, with oil change every 3000 miles and filters changed regularly.

A 4WD w/ towing package, roof rack, sun/moon roof, fog lights, woodgrain interior, automatic.

I have two major questions. First, is this too many miles for the car? I'd like to get something reliable for a daily driver, especially in winter, and I am thinking that 170000 is a lot of miles.

Second, asking price is $7000. Is this a pretty good deal or should it be less with that many miles? It seems that it should be less with that many miles?

I'd off $5k and run away with it. That is a lot of miles, but it is a "Toyota". But, normal things start to go with the miles get up there. A/C compressor, gaskets, chance of leaks, etc.

The A/C condenser in my 97 is out of it at 60,000 miles. It looks like it will be around $600. to replace it. I am not a happy camper!

$7k is probably fair. i bought my 97 ltd 4wd with 97k miles for $12k, so if i were to sell it at around that mileage, id hope to get at least $7k out of it. yeah, things will start to break and you'll have to replace them, but id rather have 170k miles on a 1997 vehicle than 170k miles on a 1990 vehicle.
