Good Deal on a 2000 SR5 3rd Gen?

Okay guys...my dad owns an auto-repair facility and I recently bought a Toyota 4runner from a customer for 400$. Reasons due to lack of oil changes for the motor and it locked up. Picked up a used motor for 1100$ with 110k miles.

Title - 400$
Motor - 1100$

Total for Vehicle - $1500

Of course we have the shop so installation is a breeze since we have most other parts in stock. Everything works as far as windows, sunroof, radio, fog lights, etc...

This also is a one-owner vehicle because she has a detailed log of all maintenance done since 2000...... it kinda dropped off around 2008 lol.

I think I got a great deal. Ill post some pictures and let you guys tell me the scoop.. Thanks :D

Sounds like a great deal to me. Since the previous owner dropped off on the maintenance, I would be concerned about the transmission if she didn't change the fluid for a long time. But, if the transmission goes, I reckon you could just find a used or rebuilt one and slap it in at your dad's shop.

Thanks man! Its in the air right now with the motor getting ready to take out with the used one on standby. As far as im concerned the biggest deal i had was the amount of dirt on the interior. Its as if someone took a dust nuke and set it off on the inside. IT LITERALLY filled my dyson canister to the brim with just the FLOOR MATS alone...

This lady just literally drove it til it clunked out. I am excited, the only thing I wish for is the 4wd :mad:

Butttt for the deal its pretty sweet :reddance:
 
You should use the savings on a supercharger. Was there a lot of dust on the engine too? Sounds it could have spent a lot of time on gravel roads.
 
Curious, what mileage was the last oil change? Wondering how long it takes before the engine just gives up. :faint:

I have a history on this 4runner because it was a customer of ours before. So we do have maintenance records. The truck currently has 230,658 miles. Last oil change was done at.. 210,220 in July of 2013.... Talk about a good stretch there so I would say these motors can take some punishment. Vehicle is in the air right now so I cant take pictures of the interior. (Which I cleaned the best I could) What kind of stuff would you guys change on it with the motor out...it still seems to have the bilstein shocks on it. I recently bought a K and N air filter, ZXE Bulbs (brightest bulbs without going HID or spending 700$ on a new kit..)

See...I was thinking of doing that. I have another 4runner in my lot that Was RAGGED out, but its still 2wd...or else I would have stripped it by now. I would have to find a body or just get the whole front end off of a 4wd 4runner?
 
Looks like a good deal given the resources you have available to you. Looks like it has a TRD exhaust on it. Not a bad deal overall.
 
I rarely see TRD Exhausts... Anything special about them?

As a new T4R owner, what should i take care of when everything is out. Timing belt is 40k miles old, anything else to replace? or look out for? Any advice will be appreciated as the motor is almost out now and I can replace everything easily now. I have new camseals and crankshaft seals to pop in. New transmission front pump seal.
 
Update!

Heres a picture of the swapping over parts and the kits and LOOK HOW CLEAN THE NEW MOTOR IS!!!





I was shocked at how clean it was..hope it sounds good!



Full Gates Timing Belt kit with a water pump. Also got new cam seals, cam plugs, rear crank seal, front crankshaft seal, valve cover gaskets, intake gaskets.



Both on stands transferring all good parts over that look better and hasnt been broken during transfer.


So far all is well and ill post more pics as I update this thread! :rockon:

OH also I did a carfax on the motor that I pulled from the VIN tag, got hit in the rear of the vehicle and got totaled that way. Motor has been serviced at Toyota for the life of it. even has a Toyota Oil Filter on it...talk about pristine.
 
great find on the replacement engine man.

shoot me the info of the place you found it when you get a chance. im at 177,300 miles on my 00' LTD & want a replacement on deck.
