I'm getting ready to buy my first new vehicle and I'm just curious what is a good deal on a 2010 4Runner Trail Edition?

Im buying tommorrow and have been getting quotes of 1000 over invoice. I think a little more can be haggled when I get there.

I posted this elsewhere, but I was quoted $38,500 + T/T/L for a Trail Edition with KDSS/Navigation/Convenience Package by Vicki @ Larry Miller Toyota in Colorado. I ended up buying one from a local dealer for the same price, and then added the remote start at port, bringing the price to $38,979 (total with all the state fees and taxes was $43,148.44) which was paid with a cashier's check.

You might get a better deal if you choose one from their inventory, I had to place a preference request to get the color I wanted which limited my negotiating power. Still, I feel I got a fair deal and I do not think I overpaid. If you can get more for less, I salute you.

500 below invoice is what I got them down to. Other dealers in the area wouldn't budge below 1k over invoice. Best of luck

Here are some numbers the dealership quoted me.

2010 4Runner Trail, silver with black/graphite interior, equipped additionally with carpet floor mats, convenience package, stereo upgrade, back up camera, and Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System, plus remote engine start
MSRP is $38983.00
Your price is $36197.00

They also have a without remote engine start I think at 35,700.

Does this sound legit?

I don't think they ship 4Runners without at least a convenience package, they don't ship Trail Editions without a back-up camera, and the floor mats aren't worth paying for at all. However, if you add a Nav at invoice price, you are in the same price range as I paid, so... it's not a "bad" deal.

I don't negotiate with salesmen. I walk in with a limit on what I will pay, offer them 5% below that, allow them to make a counter offer, and if they are below my limit, I make the deal. It's far less stressful this way.
