Good Deal Or Not Really

I'm relatively new to 4runners (Always wanted one) and now I'm in the market for one.

1998 Toyota 4 Runner 4runner 4 cyl

I think 4500 seems a little steep for a 4 cyl with that many miles and needing new tires.

Are 4 cylinders easier to maintain than the 6cyl models?

And i dont know if a little 4 banger could make the power to move a 3800lb vehicle when i need it to.

Anyways I digress, if it isnt a good deal, what price range would make it a good deal?

Thanks!

:iagree:

Thats how much my 4runner was and mines a v6 and has 4x4. Try and find one that has 4x4 and v6 I think you'll regret getting a 2wd and 4cyl but I guess it all depends on how you'll be using it. If that's the one you want I'd offer him around 2.5k

Good Luck!

X3, You'll be wishing you got a v6 and 4x4. Most of us think even the 3.4 lags a little, I couldn't imagine driving a 2.7 in the mtns where I live.

If you get the 4 cyl, make sure to get a 5spd. I had a 4x4 4cyl 5spd and it actually suprised me how much power it had for being a 4 banger. yes the 6 has more but its not as big if a difference as everyone thinks. the auto will make it seem way slower. also, 4 cylinders have a timing chain which does not need to be replaced where the 6 needs a timing belt every 80-100k or so

hey! i seen this before... this was on my home town craiglist.. are you located near jax? is anybody else local to Jacksonville?? i know this is of topic but i feel alone out here in jax.. but yeah i like the wheels... ill offer 2500 if that

I've noticed when looking at parts online, the parts for the 4cyl cost two or three times as much as the V6 parts. They must be trying to make up for low sales or something..?

I bet you're right, they probably didn't make as many 2.7s as they did 3.4s (definitely not in the 4runners) so the parts probably cost a lot more to make in smaller #s.
