Good excuse to get NEW tires & wheels?

My new-to-me 4R came with stock wheels & new Nitto Crosstreks, 265/65/17. I'm close to ordering the Toytec Ultimate Lift. Of course, I'll need/want bigger A/T rubber, too. Can't decide on tires, nor wheels, but I do mostly street driving. Don't plan on any real rock climbing nor crazy off road situations, just camping, exploring, etc. Feel free to throw some suggestions my way!

Just can't justify putting the Crosstreks aside since they're so new. But the other day, I was thinking about how dad's Tacoma needs new rubber. It's got Toyo Open Country 265/75/16 on now. So what about putting the 4R's wheel/tires on the Taco once I get a new setup? Will this work? Thoughts?

Your 4Runner wheels/tires should work fine on the Tacoma. What would you get for the 4Runner?

Aw man... Tires: BFG A/T KO, or Firestone Destination A/T, or Kumho Road Venture , or Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmor, or ??? I really don't know what I'll like, as I have no experience with A/T tires. They all seem great. My bias may lean most towards what I think looks best. Size-wise, I think I'd like 285/70/17. Preferably all-black, no white lettering.

Wheels, I really have no idea! All I know is I think gloss or matte black would look really nice. Not sure what width I'd need either....

Before the search police get here I will say there are tons of threads about different tires.

It sounds like you've got kind of a wide variety. As far as looks, I think the BFG ATs will look best of the group and they are the most aggressive for off road. They will probably ride the worst though. They don't ride bad IMO, but they won't be quite as smooth as the other choices you listed.

There are tons of other options out there though. You should look through the lift and tires sticky when you have time. It's long but there are TONS of combinations in there.

Also, if you haven't read some already, search for threads about 285s. Depending on how you use them and how much trimming you wanna do, it can be difficult to eliminate all the scrubbing.

Most previous or new gen FJ, 4R, Taco 6 bolt rims and tire combo should work on our 4th gens. Just make sure to verify your brake caliper size as 13 calipers won't allow 16" rims to fit. Also some rims such as FJs 17x7.5 are 1/2 wider and push rim/tire out to line up with the finders more.

I have some All Pro 1.5" spacers that I've yet to put on. I don't think I'll mind a wide setup. I think it looks better such as 3rd Gens. I'm slowly going thru the tire/wheel/lift sticky. Well, drooling thru it LOL. And learning lots. Thanks for all the input guys!

Pop's tires look dry rotted. I think that would be a good idea to make the swap. Last thing you want is his coming apart.
