New tires, slight steering shake after 4 wheel alignment

Put 4 new Cooper Discover Road & Trail AT's (265-70-17) on about a month ago. 4 wheel alignment performed. Had a chance to drive on PA Turnpike at 65 - 70 MPH. Noticed steering wheel shake and vibration. Even the wife noticed it. Took it back to my shop and a rebalancing of the tires was done. Had it out again on the turnpike and the steering wheel shake and vibration was back at 65 - 75 MPH. Not as bad as the first time though. My 4Runner is going in for the PA annual state inspection on July 14th. Will be sure to tell my mechanic about the issue again. Anyone have any ideas what is causing the steering wheel shake and vibration? could it be the tire(s) are out of round? This is starting to drive me nuts. Thanks in advance,

It's either a poor balance job, and/or one or more tires have poor uniformity.

If the place has a Roadforce balancer, ask them to use it to it's full capability, and to turn off the Smartweight feature.

1) are the old weights from prior tires removed from wheels before balance machine used to balance new tires? Go under your rig and inspect the weights. On our alloy wheels the weights attach with adhesive to a cleaned spot on inside of wheel. Old and new weights are easy to spot.
2) new tires have a colored dot stuck on tire that indicates where the valve stem should be located when mounting. Dots fall off eventually, but can be visible for months.
3) if these conditions are not met the shop is incompetent.

Thanks for the replies. Alignment was done using a Hunter Hawkeye Elite Aligner. My mechanic is very competent and I will ask/address these questions.
