04 4Runner doing stereo install tommorrow...

need hints on best places for grounding!

i have one dblock grounding up front, another in the rear of the car...

the rear is easy, i removed the cargo deck and the floor plan is bare, so i can anchor a point there

where up front... i heard seatbelts suck for that!

Any tips on grounding electronics in the 4runner or any car???

The absolute best ground is the negative battery terminal. It doesn't get any better than that!

But any chassis ground should suffice... especially considering the fact that the battery is grounded to the chassis.

Do you know if you can ground an amplifier from the trunk to the battery? I read online you want to keep ground within 2 feet of the amp. Is this a myth?

It technically works to ground to battery, but you're more likely to have issues with distortion at high volumes or picking up annoying interference frequencies; it's definitely not a myth. Very easy to ground just about anywhere metal in the trunk, just make sure to sand down to bare metal and make a solid connection.
