good grounding spots for an amp

Hey so im looking for good grounds for my amp, i think ive tried just about everything and im still gettting that d@mn alternator whine. also if anyone knows of what else it may be please let me know.

i have my amp mounted under my drivers seat and it is grounded underneath the kick panel with a self tapping screw. i hardly have any alternator whine.

I fixed a friends alternator whine not to long ago. Her's was just grounded under the drivers seat and with a self tapping screw. Well the dummy, who installed it, didn't scrape the paint from the grounding point. A little file work and whine is gone. The actual seat bolt is best, but whatever you do, make a good metal to metal contact. And use the correct sized wire.

yup thats what we did...2 sec with a dremel sanding bit and it worked wonders

Also, make sure that the audio (RCA) wires are on the OPPOSITE side of the car as the power wires. I ran my power via the driver's side because it's closest to the battery and my audio runs along the passenger's side. No whine on my end. Although it could be that I used 1/0 ga wiring throughout for power and ground. :

actually its really not ALL that important to run the power and rca on opposite sides... just get a decent set of RCAs and you'll be absolutely fine. I'm running stinger Hypers, which are directional RCAs that run about $1 per foot.

As far as grounds go, you want to put them all in the same spot if possible. And seatbelt bolts work good, but best of all would be scratching the paint away, drilling a hole, and using a nut and bolt. A few amp kits even come with them.
