Good Price for FJ suspension?

Found a set blue and silver bilstein shocks with fj springs(Front & Rear), 5k on them for 250 plus about 50 bucks shipping. seem like they're in really good condition. It's a bit higher than my budget, but for the right ones I supose I could squeeze a bit more from the piggy bank. Anybody with experience with these think this is a good or bad deal? should I hold out for a bit cheaper? I was anticipating spending about $150 for everything, is that unrealistic?

I paid $80 for FJ springs alone that have about 40k miles on them. Sounds like a decent deal but I'd definitely make him an offer. Maybe $200 or just ask him to pay freight. These types of things are almost always open for negotiation.
 
I paid $80 as well for the springs alone, but they had a 100 miles on them. I don't know how much the bilstein's are worth, so it could be just about right.
 
$150 for everything is about what I would pay personally. If I were going to spend over $200, I'd buy Bilstein 5100's. $300 is way too much for used shocks IMO. The reason the FJ setup is so popular is because of price, most got theirs dirt cheap. FJ guys are now asking crazy high (IMO) prices for their used stuff and it's just not worth it.

I got my both my springs and a full set of the Tokico shocks with low mileage (two completely different transactions) for free, just had to pay shipping.
 
i paid like $50 for everything maybe $75. be patient and float around on FJ forums, you can get em cheap. mine too were diff sellers, i got the front and rear springs for $25, from 2 diff guys, got a set of tokicos with 4k on em for free, just paid shipping

Thanks for the heads up everyone. I thought that it was kinda high, and everyone was saying before that a lot were given away for free (like swamp rider's). I think I'll hold off and wait for something closer to the free mark (which is a lot closer to my budget ;-P)

On a side note, are the tokico shocks that much of an upgrade to the 4runner stockers, or should I stick with the bilsteins?

The tokicos are stock, u prolly have tokicos now, the bilsteins are the better shock. I hear they ride better.

:iagree: the sr5 comes with em, & i couldn't wait to get them off. imo , the billies are the better choice

I paid $30 for mine from a friend of mine that had an FJC with a 3" Rough Country lift and he didn't even need the stock suspension. He gave it to me for free but actually gave him so $$$ for giving it to me for free. The most I would personally pay is $150-$200 at the most for the FJC suspension. Like ARK said if it is $300 or more just get brand new Bilstein 5100's with OME or FJC springs. A good amount of the FJC guys know their suspension is quite popular among the 4Runner owners and will try to get every dollar out of you.
 
thanks, I've been looking around there but everything seems to be 100-300 for springs and springs with shocks....i'll keep lookin around, though - thanks for the heads up!
 
Djrashonal, have you checked out craigslist? That's where I found my set, about an hour away from where I live. Maybe you might have some luck on there.

I know this message is a little old, but I am facing the same thing you are. I have the stock Tokico's on a 2004 4wd and would want a firmer ride. How as the ride after you went with the bilstein as far as rough off road ruts?
 
FWIW, i have FJ tokico struts from an 07 with 15k miles. they were given to me with the fj coils (for free actually).

i finally bought 5100's from ARK so id like to GIVE them to someone who can use them since they were given to me. all i ask is that you send me a cool sticker.
