Called a local shop about tinting my 00 limited. Asked them for an estimate to tint it as dark as legally allowed, which is 5% in WV, and they said about $175. Never had anything tinted before... Good, bad, average price? I have seen some pretty shoddy DIY tint jobs on people's cars before, anyone got any good tips, or is it better to just let a professional do it?

Hey thanks for the great tip! Let's see, it's 2050 miles from here to Phoenix, assume I get 18 mpg, that means I need about 114 gallons of gas. OK, now, assume $2.85/gal, that's about $325 in gas. Got to get home, so that is another $325. I won't eat or sleep the whole time, so, I only need to find somewhere out there who will pay me about $475 to make it the same price to me. Got anywhere like that out there? And I would hope they would allow darker tint in AZ than in WV, since you live in the freaking desert...:awais:

that is a really good price... mine was $140 for both side windows at 15% and a 15% tint strip with 2 DU logos

Ive got a question, I have a 93 4runner with the stock tinting on all windows but driver/passenger. The tint isn't really black like the pictures above but more of a lighter mirror kind of tint. Is it possible to match this coloring or not?? thanks

I paid $140 for mine. 5% all the way around. Full windshield done with 35%. I hate the look for that top quarter piece. At least the whole windshield is done to add in the protection factor of the dash fading as well as reduce glare when driving both day and night.
A majority of the shops here in FL now offer "full" windshield tinting.

True that. Stick to 3M or Llumar. I have had mine now for 6 years with no fading, discoloring or bubbling....despite the heat in sunny Florida.
Be sure to go to a reputable shop and they offer lifetime warranty on materials and labor. Make sure the shop has been there a long time and that it also won't be going anywhere soon, just in case you run into problems with the work.
