GoodYear MT/R 275/70R17

I just got back a phone call from one of the GoodYear dealers. He told me that GoodYear doesn't have 275/70R17 size in production. He also told me that they planning to start production on February. Is it true? I think I saw some guys in this forum with 275/70R17 MT/R. Could you post when you got those tires and where?

I remember that thread too. I thought it was 285/70-17's though. You're right though, I remember that.

Just use the tire size search feature and you will see that Goodyear offers three different tires in the 275/70-17 sizes. They are the Wrangler AT/S, Wrangler Silent Armor, and the Wrangler MT/R. You should've learned from buying your 4Runner that a salesman lacks indepth knowledge about the products they sell these days!

GoodYear website giving info on 275/70-17 MT/R, Tirerack shows "Estimated Availability - Low Stock", but two more dealers I called yesterday, saying this tire is NOT ON PRODUCTION. How is it possible? :confused: I'm sure that I've seen members on 275/70 MT/R, like 4route. He is running 275/70-17 them for some time and how can it be that the same size is not on production. I just couldn't understand GoodYear dealers
 
I've received an email from GoodYear HQ this afternoon. They told me that GoodYear has following policy: GoodYear start producing particular tire in particular size, at the same time they calculating the quote of tires to fill the virtual warehouse. After filling this quote up, they stop producing this tire and waiting till "virtual warehouse will be empty or nearly empty. Then GoodYear starts production again...
("...manufacture will only run production on a certain size once the tire is out of stock or almost out. Production on this tire started today and should be in our distribution centers/warehouses within 5 to 6 weeks...")
Nice policy :confused: I checked all my local distributors, nobody have it. This means that there is some period ~2-3 month when you won't be able to get a tire because it's already out of stock, but not yet in production and warehouse. What I have to do if I'd need a new tire...???
 
Indeed - they seem to be a great size.

I just wish they would fit as a spare underneath.

Would they fit on the truck period ?? I thought 265/70 were the biggest without a lift, and even those were damn close and rubbed a little.

I believe you will definately need a lift to run this size. But no cutting necessary.

I believe he stated in another thread that he was going to get a 3" lift.

That said, they may still rub, contingent upon a lot of factors.
