Selling Toyotas

Spam post or not, I honestly wish you the best of luck. Car sales has one of the highest turnover ratios of any business. No doubt about it; that line of work takes a special breed of person.

Go to most stealerships and you'll have three or four guys who have been there almost forever - and everyone else will be wet behind the ears. Hopefully, you'll do well and be one of those "forever" guys someday.
:hiding:

Some people are great salesmen, and others are not (including myself). Everyone in my family & circle of friends says that I should be selling cars because I love things automotive; but there ain't no way I could deal with the wasted time, rejection and overall "sliming" that goes on in that business.

I hope that you succeed and that you do so honestly and with aplomb and integrity. Don't ever get into a situation where the customer knows more about the car than you do (as I have had happen to me when perusing a dealer's inventory). Avail yourself to any product information or material - which you can study during inclement weather or other 'down time' at the dealership.

Good luck!!

P.S. Why don't sharks eat car salesmen or lawyers? Professional courtesy. LOL! {{ Just kidding!! }}

Love it!

I once ask an ex-car manager why salesmen did not know much about cars...he answered that he did not hire people that know about cars, he hires people who want to make money.

That's a pretty good one.

Though, I think there should be a limit. I test drove a brand new 2008 Honda Civic SI 6 spd before getting my 2007 SI from another dealer...

I had to drive the 08 off the lot because the sales guy couldn't drive stick! I know for most practical reasons any more people don't have to know how to drive a manual car but c'mon! I just thought that was great. Or the Honda sales guy who couldn't spell Acura right though I guess that is more irony.

Sorry, little off topic and not trying to rip on sales guys. I know a couple of good ones so do well and make yourself stand out like the guys I know. :thumb3:

Salesmen

Hey! There was a Dodge DEALERSHIP (now defunct as of last year) that ran advertisements touting the virtues of the Dodge Ram pickup with the turbodiesel V-10 engine.

Dodge offers a Cummins turbodiesel engine as an option, but it is an inline-six. They also have an available V-10 gasser, but it is not a diesel!!!!
:gun5:

I also got a brochure from my local Nissan dealer offering a discount on timing belt replacement.....but the 1.8L DOHC engine in the Sentra has a chain, not a belt. Doh!

What's next, a half-price sale on blinker fluid?
:dammit:

It's not just the salesmen.

sorry this isn't a spam post lol. Located in Houston..at 290 and Eldridge

And thanks for the encouragement guys! Ive sold 4 cars and counting.

Right now with my skill level I can "up" a customer and bring them in and show cars, etc but i cant close deals yet.

What i love about the job though is during the down time I get to test drive nice cars:driving:

Thanks guys
