Got a scion 6-disc.... now what?

I was lucky enough to nab a Scion 6 disc for a relatively low asking price on Ebay... now I just need to know what to do with it. I have the instructions that someone posted on how to remove the dash, so that shouldn't be too much trouble, but I have heard from a couple people here that the dash will need to be trimmed in order to fit the new unit in the hole. I've tried searching for this info, but either the search engine on this site is broken, or I don't know how to use it (probably the latter, though I can't figure it out for the lift of me).

Anyhow, can someone point me in the right direction here? I'm hoping to receive the unit by the end of the week and be able to play with it over the weekend. Any and all advice is appreciated.

I thought it was a plug and play install? I do remember that some people cut out the metal plate covering the second antennae port on the back of the unit. I don't remember anything about the bezel needing to be cut.

I didn't need to do any trimming. I had the base radio.

I hookd it all up and I've got the dreaded error 3 code... what to do now? I haven't had any luck searching the board for the answer.....

If anyone is out there, please help!

It is my understanding an error code 3 means the unit was either broken when it was sent or they failed to put it in ship mode.

The general consensus has seemed to be the unit is toast.

There have been some reports of powering the unit up while holding it upside down and someone on the forum indcated they took theirs apart and fooled with it and got it to work.

I would try the search function again as I can get several threads about this.

I must be using the search function wrong... I can never get it to find anything. All you do is type in something, such as 'scion 6 disc' and hit search, right?

Anyway, I tried the turning upside down trick, and.... it worked!! I turned it upside down and banged it good a couple of times and it seemed to do the trick. I'm hoping that it lasts...

Thanks for the quick response. I manually found the post about the guy taking theirs apart and decided that I would try the upside down shaky thing first. Glad I did... for now anyway.
