sweet ski racks. those look like the yakimas?
i noticed your just mounting the ski rack to the factory crossbar. i was thinking of doing that but was scared that it might rattle/buzz during long freeway drives. Does yours make much noise?
THe other option i was going for was to use this.

Yup, that's a yakima rack, about a $100 from any dealer but you can probably get it for less at a sporting good store. The mounts or clamps were orginally for my Sequoia but they fit the 4R fine.
The rack came with w/ a lift kit so that you can raise one side to allow dbling up skis, (otherwise bindings hit and dent roof), but that made it so I couldn't get into the garage w/ skis on. Placing the bigger skis singly allows for 3 sets if I dbl up on one, (my wifes with smaller bindings) which is about all I ever need to take.
The pole system from yakima I never liked, had it on my 96 4R and besides looking messy the poles stick out too far which can clomp you in the head. I have not noticed any rattle or noise coming from this system and w/ the sunroof open I don't hear anything either. It's a simple design and works well even if it's a little chincy. Don't waste money on locks on clamps though, I've had em freeze up on me causing keys to bend and fail forcing me to rip skis out of rack from one side.
