Got My Rigid Dually Spots Installed!........not impressed.

I opted for the Rigid Industries Dually pair in the spot beam patter for the top of my ARB rack. I liked that they were lower profile and would keep the wind noise to a minimum, as well as be protected by the rack. Wiring was easy, mounting was easy, but once the sun went down I was disappointed.

The spot pattern is definitely a spot, I get no glare off of the hood whatsoever which was a problem with my Hellas. The problem is that I get very little throw beyond my high beams, if any at all. I though it may have been an aiming problem so I spent last night getting them dead on, but still little improvement.

Is anyone running a pair of the D2's in a driving pattern? I'm thinking about buying a pair of those to supplement the Dually spots in hopes that the hybrid of the two will be an improvement. In the end though, I don't want to spend the money if it's not going to help.

I don't think you'll find something that will really impress you with LED's until you step up to a real light bar. If I were you I'd put a 40" on the roof and call it a day. You'd never be asking for more light. I'd suggest off brand as well many guys, including myself have used Chinese "Rigid's" and laugh all the way to the bank. Do a search for Hanma to see what you think. I actually have a 30" Hanma on my ARB and it's crazy bright.

I'll look into the Hanma for sure. I think about the widest I could go would be 20". It looks like that's the widest it would be between my two vertical supports. I hope that's enough.

I run 3 duallys on my roof rack. The middle one is a spot pattern and the 2 on the side are flood pattern. The floods give it alot of width and the middle spot gives it distance. Im sure a 40" bar will be brighter but for the price of 3 duallys i'm happy with the amount of light output i get. I reccomend running the 2 flood 1 spot pattern.

I looked at some more LED vids on youtube, maybe I'm just spoiled by the old lights I had or just old school, but I can't find anything that gets the throw of the halogen Hella's. I like the compact design of the LED's but it looks like I'm sacrficing output for design and ultimately I want to light the way, not look good doing it. 3:00 AM in the middle of nowhere NM is a nice place to have some distance.

I used to have 4 d2 on my land cruiser rack, they could not get past the factory lights, they were wider but I was let down.

On the 4runner I put 2 d2 spots and 1 13" treklight in a flood pattern and it's great. The difference is that they are mounted in front of the headlights. This way it seems to reach past the stock output of the 4runner lights.

I am no expert on this but that is my observation.

I also have them angled to the side a bit for better coverage

Looking around, I've decided they're coming off and something with some more distance is going up, haven't decided what though. At least they won't go to waste. They should mount up well to my touring bike.

Maybe put them on the back or side of the roof rack. I'm sure they would be plenty bright for reverse lights.

That's what I'm going to, Lightforce 170 Strikers. Ordered them today. And yes, if they don't go on my motorcycle the Duallys will make good reverse lights.

They're spots so they probably won't work too well for that. I've got a set of PIAA 520 Ion Crystal fogs up front for the bad weather.

Just get some old school KC Dayliters, they have a 1/4 mile plus beam.

That would be the economical alternative, however I've purchased KC's twice in the past and regretted it both times. I just don't think the quality is there.
