Got my Runner stuck

I got my Runner stuck a few days back. The frame hit solid earth and rock going down a small hill with a sharp drop. The back wheels were off the ground and the front wheels couldn't get traction to drag it down.

I felt like an idiot. I had to have my friend hook on my strap and pull me down at a sharp angle to get one of my rear wheels to hit and track. :headslap:

Doesn't look like there's any damage--just some scrapes on the frame which I'll re-coat once the weather improves.


How many of you have done something similar?

Please speak up so I can show my wife I'm not the only one. I had to do the "no this kind of thing happens all the time off-roading--which is why I brought my kit with me" thing. I don't think she bought it. :rolleye2:

Just look in the meeting report section. I have gotten stuck on a log, on a dune, in mud, etc........ If you dont get stuck you are not trying hard enough

So it's pretty normal, that's why you take recovery gear and go with other guys on trails.

Live and learn is what I say. I probably wont get stuck on most of the places now as I know my rig better.

All of that mud up here is covered by at least a foot of ice and snow... Can't wait until spring...

Nice video's Bulldog... Were both 4th Gen's in your videos lifted v8's? (I know yours is, but the Galactic Gray SE too?)

No pics of this one, sorry:

I was playing in a gravel pit, made a good climb up a really steep hill. Topped out and found there was nowhere to go except back down where I came from...the other side had been dug out and was a sheer drop!
So I backed down, but when I hit bottom, my rear bumper hung up on a large rock, sticking me nose up, resting on the bumper!

It took some doing, but I finally got enough movement to loosen the rock out so I could back down.

Wish I had pics...gotta start taking the camera along!

Those highly compressed videos suck. Just go to the trip report section and get the high quality ones about 60MB a piece but much better quality, and obviously some more 4runner offroad vids.
