Got the T4R ... Now what?

I just purchased my first Toyota 4Runner. It is a 2008 Limited V8 4WD with X-REAS. Where do I start? What can I upgrade? How can I make this look more agressive?

I just need a few ideas ... Please point me in the right direction ... I can use the search function from there.

Exactly!...an easier question to answer would what can't I do.

It all depends on what you'll use the truck for and how you want it too look. I suggest surfing the forum especially picture thread and see what 4runners catch you eye.
 
Things in mind:

I'd like to keep the X-REAS for now, but also want to lift it as much as possible. What is the best way to do this?

Would also like a more agressive stance, so either new wheels/tires or just new tires, paint the stock wheels black & add spacers. How wide can I go on tires with the stock wheels?

I'm also looking into Air Intakes & Exhaust options.

Any other modifications that ya'll would recommend?
 
first i would take the running boards off. painting the rims looks nice on limited rims, i plasti dipped mine a few weeks ago and it makes it look a lot better

Find yourself a good 4x4 shop and have them swap out the front for a D44 and a 4 link D60 or currie rock jock 60 rear, locked f/r, with at least twin sticks. 5.13's and 37's. maybe f/r bumpers but not necessary. Then, you enjoy crawling over anything!

Put on a set of Daystar spacers on the XREAS. You will keep the ride and handling that the XREAS gives.
Lose the running boards and get rock sliders there.
Get a full set of skid plates.
Put on a set of Goodyear Silent Armor tires.
Buy the head unit I have posted for sale.

Get a part time job to pay for all of this stuff and the more serious stuff you will be getting down the road.

Oh yea, buy the head unit I have posted for sale. I wont raise the price because you are in Scottsdale

You should put some new wheels on it and sell me the ones you have for cheap! :biggrin1: I love the 06-09 Limited wheels. Good luck!
 
I will acknowledge your excitement and your eagerness to want to show off your new 4runner...Anyone of us has or will do the same. With that said, this is the internet so pretty much Google, forums, even youtube are going to inspire you in some way. You're a member on here so you have to know about this right? Nice 120 vehicle by the way.

He is referencing what all jeep people aspire too also. Basically entire new axles, tires, and a diff = whole lot of cheddar.

I would start with maintenance: timing belt/water pump (if due or unsure), fluids, and brakes.

Then mods in this order: exhaust, suspension, tires, and plasti-dip.
