Gotta get rid of this d@mn thing!!

So here is my problem..pretty 02 black sport..hideious bug deflector. I know how it comes off an all that good stuff. I was just wondering what you guys feel is the best way to go about taking off those rubber nubs with out ruining the paint? Its been on since atleast 2004.


Please shoot ideas at me!!

on my both my 97 and 98 crv's, i just peeled them off with my hands. They were on there from factory, but didnt effect the paint at all.

Yup, just peel 'em off. They might leave some adhesive residue...just hit that with Goo Gone and a microfiber cloth. It'll be like nothing ever happened! ;-)

Got a pic of the "hideous" bug deflector? These things are great for protecting your hood from highway pebbles. I paid to add one to protect my paint job. I think it looks nice. Maybe you got a crappy one.

Another way is to just heat 'em up with a hair dryer. Shouldn't leave much residue on there, if anything.

I've noticed over the years that people either hate them or love them. I just took mine off but that's because it was broken and looked terrible. But now my runner looks like it is missing something.. I guess you get used to how it looks after driving it for 12 years..

Mines broken at the under hood mount on the right corner. Its the Toyota option, its just faded and unsightly at this point.

But thanks for the responses, I didnt want to go ahead and peel em then have bare metal spots.. I'm supposed to be doing homework any way haha!

Most of them are attached with simple screws. If it is a Lund then it is be easier then changing a lightbulb.

Do you have a phyllips screwdriver?

Haha i have plenty, but mine was just held on with those plastic rivet type deals. Its off and i fell in love with her all over again!!

I dunno man, changing light bulbs can be pretty difficult for some people. Ya never know...

You should be able to peel them off. Heathing them up some might help that. You could try the fishing line method where you just use a thin piece of fishing line to basically saw them off as close to the bottom as you can and then use goo-gone to get the residue off.

I don't mind how the deflectors look on some vehicles, have had a couple myself in the past, but I'm a hater because they always caused my windshield wipers to not work efficiently because the lack of wind pressure the deflector was creating wouldn't hold them down to the window enough to let them do their job.
