As you would expect. I actually feel bad for the folks at UPS that had to sort/load/deliver that awkward shaped hunk of metal.
Haha, that had me cracking up.
Weird it was shipped like that, I'm a Prime member and love the 2 days shipping and ease of return. They process returns as soon as you print the shipping label.
Weird though, everything I have ever gotten has been way OVER packed. Nice that they cut the price so much!

I've ordered a couple of Curt hitches from Amazon as well, and they came unpacked as well, albeit unscathed.
Amazon packaging is so hit or miss. My new rule of thumb is I'm the buyer, and I receive something that isn't in a condition I would accept if I was picking it off the shelf then back it goes. It's not my responsibility to watch their margins or deal with shortcomings in their logistics. I recently had a book that I had to return twice because it was packed just in a padded envelope, which was barely intact itself, and the new mailman "tacoed" it to fit it in the mailbox. Then a few days later a set of three art brush pens I had ordered with other stuff came separately packed in a book box with the internal shrink wrap board. Totally bass-ackwards packaging.
I've also had them ship relatively small things in coffin-sized boxes filled with enough paper padding to wrap my house. Drone delivery is going to be interesting.

Agreed on the typical over-packaging. Amazon really is great at what they do which is why this was so surprising.
