Graduation Gift(s) is now CONFIRMED. [Suspension Lift + New set of wheels]

So after graduating from High School on the 19th, my dad kept hounding on what I wanted for my graduation gifts. Since I already have too many things that I already need for college, I am deciding to come back to my mod-craze on my 4Runner. I recently made a thread a while ago regarding the lift but that was before I wasn't sure if I wanted to get a lift or not but now I do.


I am interested in getting a 2.5" or 3" suspension lift (Which one would you guys go with? Not for the looks but for your own and others' safety).

I need to get some links because I am going to order the parts myself and have a professional install them (There's no way I would be able to install them when I didn't get a chance to get all the basic tools (jacklift etc)

I am also interested in purchasing "blacked" out rims as well. I would love if anyone could link me to some real good notable brands on the rims. Thanks guys!! Can't wait to show you the before/after pictures of the beast. (shivers)

I'm not even sure what to think about the wheels. I just know they can mess with your speedometer? I just want tires that won't mess around with the speedometer. That's all I can ask for but I'd like larger wheels to make it leaner and meaner

I was going to go to VT/UVA but my father moved to India and left me this huge house so I figured, since I'm going to go to MED. School, why don't I just save money for that and take community college classes. I don't mind missing out on the 1st year of college because it's overrated if you know what I mean. I'm going to X-fer out to VT/UVA. Depends on the "party" scene they got going on there (Tons of friends goes to VT/UVA/JMU. But JMU is a no no for me . I take it you're going to Clemson

if your not gonna be going offroad and its gonna stay on pavement, id suppose just a spacer lift like a daystar would work fine for you. i don't see it being 'dangerous'. if you want a complete nice lift that will run you more money you should probably go with a toytec lift. i think a sonoran steel lift would be pointless for you to go with. getting a bigger tire in general will mess with your speed-o, but its not a big deal. if will only be like 2 or 3 miles off.

Alright that sounds sweet. By the way, the tires are sick but there's a little bit of chrome showing :|. I was hoping to black it out completely haha.

If I had the money and was getting a 3" lift this is what I would go with:

I am NO expert on the matter, however I would highly recommend OME 2.5" lift that Slee offroad carries http://www.sleeoffroad.com/products/4runner_suspension.htm

This lift is good quality, you can upgrade or downgrade shocks depending on what your vehicle does. It will look good and perform great, not only that ask anyone if you don't want to be fixing and extending other stuff stay at 2.5". Since Dad is paying for it get the full lift and not spacers, you will be glad you did.

that's exactly the lift kit i just purchased. just save 82 cents a day and by next year you'll have $300 for the kit. :biggrin2:

Just get your wheels powder coated black. A lot of people have done that and they look great.

Here is 10 pages worth of Black rims in the right bolt pattern in sizes from 16"-18". I run Pro Comps and haven't had any problems, also you want a non hub-centric wheel and if you are planning on doing a tundra brake upgrade you want a 4.5" backspacing.
