Does any body have pictures of the 4WD grease fittings as to the exact locations?
I'm also confused which fitting gets which grease since 2 types are needed.
If you need to turn the drive shaft to get at the fittings, do both tires need to be off the ground?
Finally, when do you stop pumping grease into the fittings? I know too much could be bad. I havent put grease into a zerk fitting in over 20 years not counting the snowblower. So this lubing the vehicle is really new to me.

I believe pics are around in an old thread. That said the u-joints get the one type (4 fittings) and the slip-joints get the other type (2 fittings) If you are looking at it it is easy to figure out. the names, u-joint and slip-joint give it away.

If you have a gun with a flexible hose you will not need to turn the shaft. I just pumped 5 or 6 full shots in there and called it done.

Toyota used to recommend plain NGLI-2 for the u-joints and NGLI-2 with moly disulfide for the slip yokes. This is no longer true, at least in the maintenance manual for our '03.

But why screw around with two types of grease in any event? Valvoline makes an excellent synthetic NGLI-2 with moly which I've used for everything for years now. The cost difference is trivial, and the protection you get should be exemplary. And I strongly suspect that any quality grease applied at each oil change will do the job well. The guys having problems are the ones that don't bother to read the maintenance manuals and never grease anything at all.

Oops, almost forgot your question. The fittings for the u-joints are on the u-joint crosspins, inside the saddles, while the fittings for the slip yokes are on the outside of the u-joints.

Best regards.
