Grease type and amount for driveshaft

I have a 98 4x4 runner and I'm going to grease up my driveshaft and u-joints this weekend and needed help on choosing the right type of grease. I had heard somewhere that the actual driveshaft joint sleeve yoke and spline used a different grease than the u-joints.......Is this true or can I use the same grease for everything and if so, what kind of grease should I get? Thank you

Toyota specifies two different kinds of grease for lubing the driveshafts. NLGI No.2 Lithium Base Chassis Grease is used for the universal joint, and NLGI No. 2 Molybdenum Disulfide Lithium Base Chassis Grease is used for the Slide Yoke and the Double Cardan Joint.

At the risk of starting a huge debate, does anyone have any compelling reasons not to use moly for everything?

IIRC Moly will let rolling element bearings slide instead of roll because it reduces friction so well. Compelling, maybe not.

moly lithium grease ????

How about a moly lithium grease....thats what i have at the house. Can I use that for both the u-joints and the driveshaft joint slleve/spline??

That's what I use for everything. But, as posted above I'm looking to see why I shouldn't. mmml4 has a reason, but like he says not that compelling!

#2 moly lithium is ONE of the two recommended greases.
